Beo. 1. Be it .>rdalnod by tho Mayer and Aldermen
of the City of Savannah and the Ilamlets thereof. That
in iieu of Porticoes or Steps, it shall bo lawful for the
owner or ownors of brick or stone houses, to orcct co
lumns thereto, not exceeding elghtcon inches in diam
eter, provided the covering thereof is not less than ten
feet high; and provided also, that said columns shall
beplaccd outside tho curb stone and touching t e same.
Fee. 2. Be it farther ordained, That all Ordinances or
arts of Ordinances militating against this Ordinance,
