Whu ii nut for some enemies of Brunswick to crack. I ia calculated this important work will be completed by the first of April.—Brunswick Netos, 6th inet. Some Words about the Ladles. I do not moan to toll vou that there are no women in the world vulgar and Ill-humored, rancorous aud narrow-minded, moan schemers, son-in-law huuters, slaves of fashion, hypocrites ; but 1 do respect, ad mire, and almost worship good women ; ami I think there io a very fair number of such to be found in this world, and I have no doubt in every educated Englishman's circle of society, whether he finds that circle in places in Belgravia and May Fair, in snug Tho Brunswick News aud the Iron for the Brunswick aud Florida Railroad. The Brunswick Near announced with a flourish the arrival at that port of tho ship Agnes, with a cargo of iron for the Brunswick aud Florida Rail road, au ovent which it regarded as a triumphant vindication of the integrity and ubility of tbe Com* p.tny to carry on tho road. The fact being notori ous that thnre was a difficulty in the way, and that there was a strong probability that the Iron would uot be lauded at that port for the reason that the mouoy wat not forthcoming to pay for it, tho editor* came out the next week and declared that they, and the people of Brunswick "had not, aud never had auy confidence in the New York Compauy," and that if tho iron was not not landed the fket would be attributable to tho "inactivity and deception" of tlmt Company. In the sqfue article they stated, iu view of the probable departure of the Jgneo with her cargo of iron for some other port, that the fail ure of that vessel to land her cargo would have uo more affect on tbe prospects of the road than "a streak of moonlight on it brick bat." In the num ber of the Neteo received yesterday the editors say— " The ship Agneo is now discharging her cargo of iron at the railroad wharf, thus discrediting tbe ma licious insinuations of some, that it would not be landed here. We honestly hope that poople will open tboir eyes to truth alter awhile." We confess that we are at a loss what most to admire, the editors’ cautiousness or their iuconsis- ' tsney. First, the recepliou of the cargo of iron was to settle all doubts as to the ability of the company to prosecute their work to completion. In tbe next number they declared that they never had bud any confidence In the company to whose "deception" was to be attributed tho nondelivery of the iron ; but eveu that fact wus of no more consequence than a streak of moonshine. Now, the iron is being laud ed it tbe railroad depot, a circumstanco which the editor thinks will "discredit the malicious insinua tions of some that it would net be Undid." They "houeflly hope, too that people will open their eyes to truth after awhile." To what truth do the editors refei? That the Northern company are unworthy of confidence? Wo have his word for that. We are assured that the iron of the Agneo is be ing lauded at Brunwswick, a fact to which wo at tribute more consequence than is claimed for it by the editors, who think its nondelivery would have been a matter of no importance. If Brunswick ail the advantages that are claimed for her, she will, ia time, become all that her citizens can desire. Walk iuto the drawing-room of Lady Z., (hat groat lady; look at her charming face and hour her voice. Now transport yourself in spirit, my good Bob, into another drawing room. There sits an old lady of more thau four score years, sereuo and kind, aud as beautiful in her age now, as in her youth, when history toasted her. We do not know what goodness aud charity, what affections, what trials, may have gone to make that charming sweetness of temper; and complete (hat perfect manner. But if we do not ad- iniro and reverouce such an old age as that, and get good from contemplating it, what are we to respect and admire? Or shall wo walk through the shop aud see Mrs. N. playing wilh tho child in the back parlor until N. shall como to tan ? Three or four weeks ago they might have quoted from the" Stock Fxcharge" column of tho New York Herald, Brunswick City Stocks ut tiz and quarter cents on the dollar, whereas it now quote* it at six and a half. This is evidence that Brunswick City Stock is rising. The bonds issued by this Lend Company, we are informed, amount to $3,000,000 ; consequently six and a half cents on tbe dollar is a large per cent, to pay for this stock. This would amountto $195,000 cash— a very handsome sum. We may, after awhile, attempt to give a history oi this stock company, ao far as we can obtain in formation—which information we confidently assart will be in a great measure correct.
