of Sociology took top honors at the
annual conference of the Georgia
Sociological Association held re
cently at Jekyll Island. Twofacul
ty shared the group’s Outstand
ing Service Award: Dr. Robert
Johnston, associate professor of
Sociology, and Ms. Ernestine Th
ompson, associate professor of
Social Work. Sheryl Redman, a
senior majoring in English and
Sociology, submitted the confer
ence’s most outstanding under
graduate paper, “Anti-Gay/Anti-
Lesbian Hate Crimes: A Sociolog
ical Perspective.”

class one night per week. The program is convenient for working adults as well as practical in their work.
Courses improve students’ communication skills, leadership abilities and decision-making skills. Classes
begin in January. Must have already earned 50-60 credit hours. Classes meet at Aiken Carceer Center.
