ference women’s co-players of the
week.
Parks scored 34 points and had six
rebounds in a win over North Caroli
na A&T. Hayes scored 36 points and
had 13 rebounds in a loss to Ameri
can and a win over South Carolina
State.
Latoya Gardner of Howard was
selected the conference rookie of the
wecek. She scored nine points and

Alcor:: State extends homecourt streak to 21
Two wecks ago, Connecticut snapped the
Tennessce women’s basketball team’s
homecourt win streak at 69 consecutive
victories, which had been the longest in
Division T of the NCAA.
Monday night, Georgia snapped Con
necticut’s 1 I-gamehomecourtstreak, which
had been the top mark since Tennessee’s
demise.
UConn’: loss to Georgia has changed the
leaderboard again and Stanford is the new

Paine has now dropped

and is last in the SIAC
behind Fort Valley.
Leroy grant paced the
national leader, having won 24 consecutive
games at Maples Pavilion. The Cardinal’s

Stanford is followed in the homecourt
listing by Texas Tech, which has won 23
home games, Alcorn State (21), Montana
(20), Grambling State and Jackson State

SWAGC to honor women
sports stars in celebration
JACKSON
On Thursday, Feb. 8, the Southwestern
Athletic Conference’s 75th Anniversary
Celebration focuses on women’s sports as
the league presents Excellence in Wom
en’s Sports Awards to eight pacesetters of
collegiate athletics.
The award presentations will be a part
of the conference’s Salute to National
Women in Sports Day and held in conjunc
tion with Jackson State University’s an
nual Girls and Women in Sport Seminar

nut Grove, Miss., Mann averaged
29.0 points, 14.5 rebounds, 2.0 as
sists, 0.5 blocked shots in MVSU’s
