The 6-2 Sr. guard had a big
week for the No. 1 ranked
Lions. Coach Mike Gold’s
team is 13-3 and owns the
top ranking in GISA 4 AAA.
This past week, Isaac had 17,
33 and 27 in Augusta Chris
tian wins over John Milledge,
Pinewood. In the win over
Pinewood, Isaac connected on
7 three-pointers. .

Python lifters shine
The Python Powerlifting Team
of Augusta dominated teams from
Sandersville. Georgia and
Fitzgerald, Georgia at the “Py
thon Invitational Bench Press &
Deadlift Rumble” held recently.
“Every lifter on our team won
first place and showed great tech
nique, sportsmanship and team
work. [ was very proud of them,”
said Tee “Skinny Man” Meyers,
coach of the Python Team.
The Pythons finished with 50
points, followed by Sandersville
with 26 points and Fitzgerald with
24 points.
Leading the way to victory were
the Lady Pythons, whichincluded
DebraHuelin the 148-pound Nov
ice division with a 245-Ib. deadlift.
Reesie McCloud swept the 148-Ib.
open division with a 120-1 b bench
press and a 340-Ib. deadlift. The
Meyers achieves number one ranking
Hephzibah’s Tee “Skinny Man”
Meyers has achieved what he
has called his ultimate goal in
powerlifting.
Although the 39-year-old lifter
has won the World Drug-Free
Powerlifting title for the last two
years, he felt one final goal had
eluded him.
That goal is to be ranked the
number one deadlifter in the
USA. This year, Meyers achieved
Older Adult Day with the Augusta College Jaguars
The Area Agency on Aging and
Augusta College are planning the
2nd annual Older Adult Day. It
will take place at the Augusta
College Athletic Complex, 3109
Wrightsboro Road, on Saturday,
February 10th.

1. WESTSIDE (11-2)
Despite a defeat to Burke Coun
ty on a couple of last-second free
throws, its first loss in the state of
Georgia in two calendar years,
Westside is still the class of the
CSRA. They bounced back with a
win over Butler 68-50.
2. N. AUGUSTA (7-2)
Playing great, but could begin
toslide with aninjury totheirbest
scorer Kevin Lynn (broken wrist),
who is out for the season. Kevin
Muns (Soph.) must step it up.
1. BUTLER (13-1)
Talented team, which is led by
a host of Sophomores including
(5-11) Kwameika Brown and (6-
0) Crystal Davis. They compete
in one of the toughest regions,
which includes Southwest Ma
con.
340 1b deadlift garnered her the
“Best Female Deadlift” award.
With a massive 160-Ib. bench
press, Cora Brooks was given the
“Best Female Bench Press” award.
In the men’s 165-Ib. division,
17-year-old Fred Brooks took the
“Best Teenage Deadlift” with a
400-Ib. lift. 435 Ibs was enough for
Derryl Fuller to take the 181 Ib
Novice class. The “Best Bench
Presser” of the meet was awarded
tothe 1811 b Open division winner
Tony “Pokey” Francis with a 400-
Ib. bench press. 500 lbs in the
deadlift was the winning ticket
for Dwight “Shakka” Huel to win
the Over 40 class in the 198 Ib
division. With the biggest bench
press of the meet (460 lbs), Kevin
Stewartblew away the 2201bclass.
The winning was concluded by
David Marable with a 365-Ib.
bench press in the 275 Ib. class.

Ms. Dixon put on quite a
show this past weekend. In
Josey’s big victory over
Hephzibah, Dixon led the
way with 17. But she is
player of the week for her
33-point effort in the Eagles’
dramatic win over their
arch-rival Laney.
3. ARC (12-5)
This team has been up and
down, but they have a lot of
backcourt talent. They avenged
a loss to Hephzibah by defeating
Glenn Hills (68-61).
4. BUTLER (8-7)
Don't let the record fool you.
This team is beginning to play
well. Especially Carl Greene (6-
4, Jr.) who had 23 points, 12
boardsin a 81-563 win over Evans.
2. JOSEY (11-5)
Coach Lynn Brantley had a
huge weekend beating both Hep
hzibah and Laney on consecu
tive nights. Stella Dixon had 33
points in the win.

placed first in his division of the Python Invitational Bench
Press & Deadlift Rumble in Augusta. Woodring deadlifted
365 Ibs. He is flanked by grandson Tommy Jordan (L), 14

The meet was held at the Hep
hzibah Community Center and
had over 50 lifters from Alabama,
South Carolina, North Carolina
and various parts of Georgia.

played games that lived up to the

5. SWAINSBCRO (12-2)
Despite aloss to ARC, this team
beat Screven County 48-42 on
Saturday night. What is amazing
about this victorty is that Div. I
players Randy Hughes and Sergio
Washington only played in the
4th quarter.
6. BURKE COO. (10-5)
Huge win over Westside! Talk
about gaining instant respect.
Guard Patrick Woodward hit a
pair of freethrows with eight sec
ondsleft. Woodward followed that
with 27 points in a win over Hep
hzibah.
3. AIKEN (11-2)
Senior Kim Cueis a super play
er. They dominate the region. It
would be interesting to see some
cross-state matchups in the fu
ture.

the Josey boys prevailed over
Laney 68-65. Both teams played
a little sluggish in the first half
but, after the intermission,
Ladell Webb (6-5, Sr.) caught
fire to score 14 of his 18 points.
The big play, however, was a
rebound and put-back by Deon
Grant, who also had 18 points.
7. GLENN HILLS (9-6)
Mickell Berry showed that he
could score despite a 68-61 loss to
ARC. This is one of the surprise
teams in the area.
8. BARNWELL
The War Horses have a Clydes
dale in (6-3,5 r. Anthony Worthy.
The team had a recent big win
over arch rival Silver Bluff.
4. HEPHZIBAHN (10-3)
Coach Wendell Lofton has an
other talented team despite los

Willingham.

Westside star William Avery,
who led the Patriots in scoring,
missed a last-second shot at the
buzzer which would have given
the Patriots the win.
Hephzibah vs. Josey
Hephzibah and Josey split a
pair this past week. In the Boys’
game, Larry Smith and Mack
Young combined for 35 points as
Hephzibah took out the defend
ing state runner-ups 57-53. In
the girls’ game, Josey showed
they can play with anyone as
they surprised Hephzibah 54-49.
Stella Dixon led the way with 17.
9. HEPHZIBAH (7-7)
A good week with consecutive
wins over ARC, Josey, and Evans,
before falling to Burke County
(69-57). Larry Smith (6-2, Sr.)is a
tremendous player and he has
help from Mack Young.
10. SOUTH AIKEN (8-7)
Theteam hasbeenupand down,
but teams had better beat them
now because Tony Kitchings is a
rising star.
5. LANEY (9-5)
Laney was state runner-up
once again last year. Coach Otis
Smart has had to figure out how
to replace Joya Collier and
Fredreicka Morgan. They have
played a tough early season
schedule.
