John and Dave are budding

life’s possibilities, even though
they’re not quite sure how to get
what they want.
Both young men are paired
with smart, attractive women.
Dave’s long-standing girlfriend,
Phyllis (Wright), would like tobe
married but, while she’s waiting,
she’s not taking any guff. “Don’t
take me for granted.” she tells
Dave. “Love is like a candle. If
your attitude gets too breezy, you
might put out the flame.” John is
newly married to the strong
willed, conservative Lorraine
(Cale) who goes to college part
time. In the initial episode, she
shops formuch-needed furniture,
but agrees to lend the money
from the “couch fund” to her hus
band’s new business venture.
Rounding out the cast is
Lorraine’s mother Maureen (Ivey),

dialogue. Also on hand is Dave’s
father, Henry (Roundtree), a self
made man who is not exactly
thrilled his son wentintobusiness
with a white guy.
Race will provide a continuing,
but not exclusive, theme in the
show. Says co-createor
McFadzean, “The two men bat
tleracism with a sense of humor.
On the series we will present. a
positive, yet realistic, approach
to race relations where we cele
brate our differences.” Adds co
creator Finestra, “We will cer

our characters’ senses of humor,
we hope to dramatize racial is
sues in an entertaining way.”
