THE AUGUSTA COLLEGE CULLUM
LECTURE SERIES will sponsor the
following upcoming activities of their
program The Balkans: Frontier of
Two Worlds which will be held in the
Butler Hall lecture room:
- June 4, Tuesday - Professor Jack
Perry of Davidson College, former US
ambassador to Bulgaria, will talk about
“What Makes the Balkans the Frontier
of TwoWorlds?”fromlla.m.-Ip.m.
He will also speak about “Can the
Balkans be Stable in the Future?” from
8-9 pm.
THE U.S. ARMY SIGNAL CORPS
BRASS QUINTET will be performing
free on Friday, May 31, at 7 p.m. at the
Jessye Norman Amphitheatre on the
Riverwalk.
THE U.S. ARMY SIGNAL CORPS
STAGE BAND will be performing free
on Saturday, June 1, at 7 p.m. at the
Jessye Norman Amphitheatre on the
Riverwalk.
THENATIONAL SCIENCE CENTER'S
PREVIEW DISCOVERY CENTER AT
FORT GORDON will be sponsoring
activities on Saturday, June 1. Wind
racer workshops, mini-planetarium
STARLAB, Kid Scape, Computer World,
the Teacher Resource Center, the Sci
ence Store and Peanut Gallery science
demonstrations will be open. The
Discovery Center is on “B” Street on
Fort Gordon just off Chamberlain Ave
nue.

be issued at the Senior Center, 535
15th St., on Monday, June 3, from 10

COMPUTER LITERACY FOR SE
NIORS 1. A course for seniors who
have little or no computer experience.
You will be exposed to the most pop
ular programs in a comfortable, user
friendly environment. Course starts
June 10 at 1 p.m. Fee is $145.
COREL DRAW WORKSHOP. Learn
to create your own graphics, import
graphics and scanned images, or use
Corel Draw’s library of images in this
powerful graphics program. This work
shop meets from June 10 and June 17
from 7:30 - 10 p.m. Fee is $69.
PAGEMAKER WORKSHOP FOR BE
GINNERS. Learn how to create bro
chures, flyers, newsletters or annual
reports using this popular desktop
publishing program. You will handle
scanned images and import graphics
from other programs. Three-session
workshop starts June 13 at 7:30 p.m.
A workbook is included in the $79 fee.
PERSONAL FINANCE FOR TEENS.
Learn to manage your savings and
checking accounts, plan for future
purchases, and use credit safely. A

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
VOLUNTEER DRIVERS are needed
for about one hour between 10:30 -
11:30 a.m. to deliver meals to
homebound senior citizens in the Au
gustaareaforthe Senior Citizens Coun
cil's Meals-on-Wheels program. All
volunteers are provided with an orien
tation to their routes and delivery pro
cedures. For more information, con
tact Marsha Newton, Meals-on-Wheels
program director at the Senior Citi
zens Council, at 826-4480.
VOLUNTEERS FOR THE GOLDEN
HARVEST FOOD BANK are needed to
work in the reclamation area. Groups
and individuals are especially needed
Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. - 12
noon. There is also an immediate
need for a driver's assistant on
Wednesdays from 8 a.m. - 4 p.m.

THE AUGUSTA CHAPTER OF THE
AMERICAN RED CROSS offers sum
mer volunteer opportunities for youth
ages 13 -18. The Summer Volunteer
Program offers the chance to gain
work experience and serve others while
volunteering at various community
agencies. Youths must be responsi
ble and demonstrate maturity. Inter
ested persons should contact the Au
gusta Red Cross at 826-4465 by May
25th for an application.
