The 1996 Farm Bill
‘requires farmers to
=sign up now for
- farm programs
1996 - 2002
ATLANTA
. The Agricultural Marketing
“Transition Act of the 1996 Farm
-+Bill requires that farmers must
‘sign up now to be eligible for
farm programs in the years 1996
through 2002. July 12, 1996 is
the last day for this sign-up.
Farmers must immediately go to
their local Farm Service Agency
(FSA) to sign up for the farm
programs. Failure of farmers to
do so could be devastating for
their farm practice as they will
not be eligible for farm programs
for seven years. African-Ameri
can family farmers and limited
resource farmers who are often
inot aware of available farm pro
«.grams must be alert to this dead-
Jine should they desire partici
~pation in the next seven years. If
-farmers have any questions at
-all they must contact their Farm
Service Agency immediately!
