Mr. Nguyen is a junior majoring in early childhood
education. Heis a scholar with a 3.68 cumulative GPA.
Originally from Vietnam, Hau plans to teach fourth

tunity to explore Kenya, especially the cultural differ

_ Paine College is a church-related, four-year, residen
tial, liberal arts college. Its mission of providing an
education ofhigh quality ina wholesome and nurturing
environment has not changed since its founding in
1882. Paine is supported by The United Methodist
Church, the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church,
and the United Negro College Fund. Dr. Shirley A. R.
Lewis is president at Paine College.
Volunteers needed nursing
National Engineers Week
AIKEN, SC
Eachyear, the Savannah River Site (SRS) celebrates
National Engineers Week, a nationwide recognition of
engineersandscientists, theirinnovations and technol
ogy development. This year, National Engineers week
is Feb. 16-22.
During that week, SRS scientists and engineers will
go to CSRA schools encouraging youth to consider
careers in engineering and science. Volunteers receive
training and presentation materials, in addition to
effective communication techniques.
Non-SRS employees are also encouraged to volun
teer. If you are interested in this opportunity to help
make youth excited about science and engineering,
contact Marla Wright, (803) 557-9498, or Jackie East,
(803) 952-6710. Volunteers will be accepted through
Feb. 7.
SRSis owned by the U.S. Department of Energy and
operated by a team led by Westinghouse Savannah
River Company.
The One Hundred Black Men of Augusta, Ine.
are in need of volunteers to tutor and work with
middle school-aged students. The tutorial pro
gramis held Monday through Thursday from4:3o
p.m, to 5:30 p.m. The Saturday Academy is held
the first two Saturdays of each month. Both
programsare conducted at Tubman Middle School
located on 1740 Walton Way,.
