Emphasis on youth is theme for
Paine Religious Emphasis Week
Paine College’s Religious Em
phasis Week will be held Monday,
March 17th through Friday, March
21st. The theme this year will be
“Preparing Young Adults for the
21st Century.” The keynote
speaker for the week will be Dr.
Henry M. Williamson, pastor of
Carter Temple Christian Method
ist Episcopal Church in Chicago,
Illinois. The following is the full
schedule of events:

“As you consider the challenges

book of poems. The manuscript is
now a book, Teardrops in the
Ocean, by 18-year-old Courtney
N. McCoy.

The Reverend Dr. Henry M.
Williamson, the keynote speaker
for the week, is a dynamic reli
gious leader. He began his reli
gious career in 1967. He has a
ten by McCoy when she was between
the ages of 14 and 18.
Becauseofheryoungage, aunique
combination of freshness and vital
ity is sensed in her works. After
reading some of McCoy’s poems,
gospel singer Donzell Moody sensed
McCoy’s love of music. Because of
therhythm and meter of her poems
“You’re Still the One” and “He
Needed You,” Moody declared they
could one day be hit songs.
This book is a great source of
inspiration for other young writers

B The Senior Mission of Good Shepherd Baptist Church, 1505
Sunset Ave., will celebrate its 37th anniversary on Sunday, March
16, at 4 p.m., in conjunction with the MIAs of Good Shepherd. Rev.
Willie White and the Newberry and Hosannah Baptist Church
families will be the special guest. Rev. Clarence Moore is pastor. .
B The Senior Choir of Thankful Baptist Church, 302 Walker -
St., will present “In Concert” Voorhees College, Mr. Doug Brockington,
director, on Sunday, March 16, 1997 at 5 p.m. The Usher Board will
celebrate their anniversary on Sunday, March 23, at 11 a.m. Guest
speaker will be Judge Carl C. Brown. Easter sunrise service will be -

B The Deaconess Ministry of the Antioch Baptist Church,
corner of Augusta Ave. and Florence St., will be holding a seminar
on Saturday, March 22, from 12 - 2:30 p.m. The seminar, entitled
“Information for Senior Citizens,” will provide information to senior
citizens on where and how to apply for benefits, including nursing
homes and personal care homes. All senior citizens, caregivers and
any interested individuals/groups in the community, are encour
aged to attend. There is no fee for attending. The seminar will be
presented in the Educational Center at the church.
B The First Baptist Church in Keysville, Ga. will be holding a
Palm Sunday Preparation Service on March 23, at 11 a.m. Guest
speaker will be Bishop L.A. Green. Rev. Gary Kerr is pastor.
B Windsor Spring Baptist Church, 3692 Windsor Spring Rd.,
will be accepting enrollment for their Summer Fun Program begin
ning March 1. Classes will begin June 10. Hours will be 9:30 a.m.
