New Judge Stalled
In General Assembly
The Thomaston Times
The move to add another judge to the Griffin
Judicial Circuit, which includes Upson County, is in
limbo, according to State Rep. Marvin Adams of
Thomaston.
“I don’t think we’ll know the status” of the
recommendation of another judge until after the
General Assembly recess, Adams said.
THE JUDICIAL Council of Georgia has recom
mended another judge for the circut, and has placed it
third on the list of recommended new judgeships for
the state.
‘‘There are several obstacles, such as the cost and
the question of there being a real need for it,” Adams
said, ‘‘although the need must be there since the
judicial council put it third on the list.”
GOV. BUSBEE has not yet decided whether
finances are available for the new judge, and the
House Judicial Committee has not made ahy
recommendation, Adams said.
