LEGAL 9184 ADVERTISEMENT OF SALE UNDER POWER GEORGIA, SPALDING COUNTY. On July 1, 1976, Douglas T. Mullis and Darlene C. Mullis executed a note for Sixteen Thousand Dollars ($16,000.00), payable to Paul E. Hollis, Sr., which note with interest at the rate of 8 percent per annum was payable in equal installments of $150.00 each, beginning on July 1, 1976, and continuing thereafter on the same day of each succeeding month, with a final payment due Jan. 1, 1992. Time was made the essence of the contract, and the note contained a provision for the payment of 15 percent of the principal and interest as at torney's fees, if collected by law or through an attorney at law. In order to secure the payment of said note, Douglas T. Mullis and Darlene C. Mullis executed and delivered to Paul E. Hollis, Sr. a deed to secure a debt, conveying the following described land. Notice fixing the liability for attorney's fees has been given according to law. There is a balance due as of November 1, 1976 of $15,960.00 principal, besides interest and attorney's fees thereon. This deed contains a power of sale, authorizing the grantee, as attorney in fact for grantor therein, to sell the property conveyed thereby in order to satisfy said note after ad vertising the same once a week for four weeks in the official newspaper of said County, in accordance with this power of sale the Grantee will sell the property above described at public outcry to the highest and best bidder for cash, on the first Tuesday in March, 1977, at the place of public sales before the courthouse door in Spalding County, Georgia, and within the legal hours of sale. Melinda Dillon plays two roles in the film. You’d never know it by looking at the two characters she plays — they look entirely different — and you’d have to have quick eyes to catch the repetition of her name in the cast list. But it’s there. MARY GUTHRIE - Melin da Dillon, it reads. And then, way down the cast, there is another notation: MEMPHIS SUE - Melinda Dillon. This just isn’t done in Hollywood. And the reason it was done in this case is, Melinda Dillon says, because order will be passed saying no Administrafion is necessary. January 11, 1977. John E. Snider, Judge of Probate Court. GRIFFIN ■ " ** wP m/x - E- - MELINDA DILLON plays two roles in the film “Bound for Glory” because director Hal Ashby felt sorry for her. Hal Ashby felt sorry for her. She had played the role of Mary Guthrie, the wife of Woody, who is acted so well by David Carradine. And she finished it. It had been a plea sant experience, she says, and, when her work was done, she was left with an empty feeling — something which can probably be called the post-part blues. “The last day on the set,” Melinda says, “I just cried and cried. It was so sad, leav ing everybody.” A few days later, Hal Ashby, the director, called her and asked her if she’d be in terested in playing the part of Memphis Sue, the girl singer Woody worked with at a radio station in Los Angeles. “He must have guessed how much I was suffering,” she says. “He just felt sorry for me.” She jumped at the oppor tunity. They made her up to look as little like her real self as possible. For Memphis Sue, she wore a dark wig, a lot of make-up and a bunch of pad ding. And, unless you know, you wouldn’t know. “Bound for Glory” has totally changed Melinda Dillon’s life. She had come out from New York to play Mary Guthrie, and it was supposed to be a two-week thing. Those two weeks have now stretched into a full year. After “Bound for Glory,” she had a small part in Paul Newman’s film about hockey, “Slap Shot.” “I had just one day on the film,” she says, “but I spent that day in bed with Paul.” With that out of the way, she went into Steven Spielberg’s new film about UFOs, “Close Encounters of the Third Kind.” It is a film that is close to her, because she’s a believer in UFOs, and it com pletely convinced her of their reality. “I think the thing that ul timately convinced me,” she says, “was an experience my parents had. They are very skeptical people. They live in Kansas, on flat, flat land.
