Local Easter Seal campaign
is underway with the YWCA
Carol Ellis of Griffin and her
YWCA group will co-chair the
1977 Easter Seal Campaign for
Spalding County. The annual
appeal is now underway and
ends on Easter Sunday, April
10.
Well known business
executive of Griffin, James M.
Joiner, will spearhead activities
in the business community as
Business Chairman for the
Easter Seal Campaign.
Announcement of the Easter
Seal leadership was made by
Coach Vince Dooley, State
Easter Seal Chairman for the
twelfth consecutive year.
According to Dooley, a total of
7,745 handicapped Georgians of
all ages with all kinds of
handicapped and crippling
conditions received Easter Seal
direct services during 1976.

Besty Daniel, sophomore Y-

Award according to Harris

corporation.
The Silver Cone is a plaque
awarded to all franchise
operators whose store records a
500-gallon increase in usage of
soft-serve mix over the previous
year.

Julie Ann Cohen loved people

Julie Ann Cohen was “one of those people whose
goodness shines through at you,” said a lifelong friend.
The friend, Diane Tannen of Atlanta, was one of many
people who mourned Miss Cohen after the 22-year-old was
strangled March 1 as she worked in a patch of woods at the
University of Florida.
Miss Cohen, who was buried in Augusta last week, had
been working toward a master’s degree in soil studies and
had hoped to go to Israel to help reforest the land.
“She had talked to me about wanting to work in Israel

Sweet Tooth
These members of the Sweet Tooth Band of Atlanta will perform at the annual Hospital
Auxiliary ball in April at the Elks Club. The group was one of the bands that appeared
during the inaugural ball for President Jimmy Carter. Mrs. Ivan Taylor and Mrs. Charles
Mitchell are handling music arrangements for the benefit ball.
