What’s happening Meeting The annual spring meeting of the Citizens Improvement League will be held Sunday at 8 p.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church. The Rev. Julian C. Hope of Macon will be the guest speaker. Women’s day The Trinity CME Church will have Women’s Day Sunday at the 11 a.m. worship. The Rev. C.E.F. Hester is pastor. Revival Revival services will begin Sunday at the Union Baptist Church Route 6, Sunday and continue through Thursday. The evangelist will be Keith Fordham. The church is at Jackson and Jenkinsburg roads. The pastor is the Rev. Mike Pinson. Services Sunday will be at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Evening services next will begin at 7:30. VFW The regular March meeting of the VFW and Auxiliary will be held Monday night. Supper will be served at 7:30 p.m. Singing A singing will be held at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church tonight, beginning at 7 p.m., and featuring the “Manna Singers” of Griffin. Girl Scouts pushing for camp trip money Girl Scout Cadett Troop 128 has begun planning for a trip this August to Ten Sleep, Wyo. The cross country camping trip is expected to cost around 12,200 and the Orrs students will kick off their fund raising on April 9. They will be selling cakes and bake items at Rose’s April 9 as their first project. The girls plan to take the five day trip a few hundred miles a day on the Girl Scout bus. Troop leaders, Mrs. Kay Vines and Mrs. Rosalind Evans, do not plan to request the balance of the money from the parents of the girls. They want the girls to work to raise the money and learn from the experience. The girls have adopted a variation of a perennial theme, “Wyoming or Bust”, and plan to post it whenever and whereever they put on a fund raising drive. Griffin High has 5 finalists in Governor’s Honors program Five Griffin High School students have been selected as finalists for the 1977 Governor’s Honor Program. Principal Tascar Williams has been notified by the State Department of Education those eligible to participate in the program. Students selected to Speaker Fred Stewart, president of Southern Graphic Arts of Vidalia, talked about Georgia economic education programs during the Junior Achievement Advisers Appreciation dinner at Holiday Inn in Griffin. The graphic arts unit is a wholly owned subsidiary of Piggly Wiggly South. The supermarket which has a store in Griffin has been active in promoting the free enterprise concept In Georgia. Rock-a-thon seeks money for missions Some 15 to 20 young people were conducting a rock-a-thon at the DeVotie Baptist Church today to raise money for home missions. They got pledges from adults for the number of hours they would spend in the rock-a-thon. Money raised will go to the Annie Armstrong home missions program. Flynt, Jr. announced that Cecil Lamar Davis, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil L. Davis of Griffin, has been appointed to the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. A senior at Griffin High School, Davis has maintained an outstanding academic record and is an active participant in extra-curricular activities at Griffin High School. Computer tripped him The Griffin State Patrol unit here turned over Roger Hicks, Jr. Friday to the Griffin Police Department. Hicks, an Atlantan, went to the Griffin Post for a driver’s license. After a routine check by computer, it was found that he was wanted on a battery charge and was out of jail on $4,000 bail. Hicks was turned over to Griffin Officer Roy Williams. He was released to an Atlanta bondsman. Page 3 Deaths -F unerals Mr. E’Dalgo Mr. Dewey Turner E’Dalgo of 217 West Vineyard road died Friday at the Floyd County Hospital in Rome. He was a native of Henry County but made his home in Griffin for the past 5 years. Mr. E’Dalgo was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Atlanta. He was also a retired asbestos worker. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Alice Jerldine E’Dalgo of Griffin; 3 daughters, Mrs. Jerry Breedlove of Woodland Hills, Calif.; Mrs. Brenda Benefield of Covington; and Mrs. Vicky Young of Griffin; 4 sons, Billy E’Dalgo of Blue Ridge; Carlton E’Dalgo of Griffin; Danny E’Dalgo of Forest Park and Glenn E’Dalgo of College Park; 4 sisters: Mrs. Eva Harrison of East Point; Mrs. Elon Capps of Atlanta; Mrs. Nita Robertson of Hapeville; and Mrs. Pearl Putnal of Bethesda, Md.; brother, Don E’Dalgo of East Point. 15 grandchildren and one great grandson. The funeral will be Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Demascus Christian Church with the Rev. Dan Entwistle officiating. Burial will be in the County Line Baptist Cemetery in Jenkinsburg. He was a native of Pike County where he operated the Williamson Grocery Store. Mr. Williamson is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lula Pruitt Williamson; a daughter, Mrs. Rosa Lee Jones of Griffin, 3 sons, J.D. Williamson, Jr., Guy Williamson and Ronald S. Williamson all of Griffin; a sister, Mrs. Willie Howard of Griffin, 11 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Haisten’s Funeral Chapel. The Rev.
