Page 2 — Griffin Daily News Thursday, March 31,1977 Pc Crime report Three men rob bottle shop Police were looking for 3 Hack men who robbed Mrs. Helen Faulkner at the Plaza Bottle Shop Wednesday. Mrs. Faulkner told officers the men came into the store and purchased a bottle of beer. When the cash register opened as he rang up the purchase, they jumped over the counter and knocked her down. She said they took money and checks from the register, then fled from the scene. The amount taken was not disclosed. A valuable ring was in a purse stolen from Mrs. Edie Comeau at the Greyhound Bus Station Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Comeau, who lives on Terrace street, said the pocketbook also contained about $5. A battery was stolen from a car parked at the DeVotie Baptist Church lot. Merchants were warned not to cash a check on the account of Ronnie Daniel, Architect, of Atlanta, at the Fulton National Bank. Such a check cashed by Vaughn Furniture Co., 116 South Sixth street, was returned marked, “no account.” A car parked in the middle of Ellis road had been stolen earlier from RBM Motors, Spalding Sheriff’s officers reported. Vandals threw paint on the walls and floors of a home on Seago drive, investigators said. Variety Club has meeting The Variety Garden Club met at the home of Mrs. Adelle Stokes with the president, Mrs. Margaret Parks, presiding. The Lord’s Prayer was prayed in unison. The social committee reported on several projects. Horticulture reports were given by Mrs. Mozelle Sanders and Mrs. Zemiria Myers on the cassula and beaucomea plants. Stork Club LITTLE MISS JONES Mr. and Mrs. Earnest Jones of 606 Drake street, Thomaston, announce the birth of a daughter on March 30 at the Griffin-Spalding County Hospital. LITTLE MISS REDDING Mr. and Mrs. Charlie Redding of 806 Williams street, Griffin, announce the birth of a daughter on March 30 at the Griffin-Spalding County Hospital. Deaths Funerals Mr. Greenwald Mr. Carl David Greenwald of 403 Sunset drive, died Wednesday morning at the Griffin-Spalding Hospital. Mr. Greenwald was a native of Wooster, Ohio, moving to Griffin 27 years ago. He was employed at Southern States Equipment Co., in Hampton until his retirement. He was a veteran of World War 11. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Margaret Davis Greenwald; 3 daughters, Mrs. Pat Gore of Griffin, Mrs. Betty McClure of Wooster, Ohio and Mrs. Anita Spencer of Fredericksburg, Ohio; 2 sons, Kenneth Greenwald of Fredericksburg and David Greenwald of Millersburg, Ohio; a brother, Gerald Greenwald of Wooster; 3 sisters, Mrs. Virginia Allermon, Mrs. Jane Clark and Mrs. Irene Bentz, all of Wooster; 12 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock in the chapel of Haisten Funeral Home. The Rev. Warren Moorehead will officiate and burial will be in Griffin Memorial Gardens. The body will remain at the funeral home. Mrs. Sindorf Mrs. Idell Connally Sindorf of Hammond drive died early this morning at the Westbury Nursing Home in Jenkinsburg. Mrs. Sindorf was born in Fayette County. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Malinda Boyer of Amanda, Ohio; a son, John Ira Harper of Birmingham, Ala.; 2 sisters, Mrs. Ira Trice and Mrs. Jewel Bates, both of Griffin; 2 stepsisters, Mrs. Ethel Stapleton and Mrs. Thelma Payne, both of Griffin. Funeral plans will be announced by McDonald Chapel. Mr. Brown Mr. Albert Brown of 1514 North Hill extension died this morning at the Glenwood Nursing Home in Decatur. Mr. Brown was a lifelong resident of Griffin and a veteran of World War 11. He was a member of the Achair Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Hattie Brown. Funeral plans will be announced by McDowell United Funeral Home. Mrs. Dingier The funeral for Mrs. Rosa Cochran Dingier of Meansville will be Friday morning at 11 o’clock in the chapel of Pittman Rawls Funeral Home. The Rev. W. R. Cochran will officiate and burial will be in Finchers United Methodist Church cemetery in Meansville. Friends may visit the family at the funeral home tonight from 7 until 9 p.m. Mrs. Dingier was the widow of Mr. Ernest L. Dingier and a native of Meriwether County, making her home in Meansville for 43 years. She was a member of the Williamson Christian Church. She is survived by 3 brothers, A. C. Cochran, C.G. Cochran both of Meansville and C.C. Cochran of Zebulon; a sister, Mrs. Evelyn Sullivan of Griffin and several nieces and nephews. Y Club director to visit GHS clubs The Griffin High Y Clubs have proclaimed Friday, April 1 as Y-Club Day in Griffin in honor of Tony Lay, northwest Y-Club district director. Mr. Lay will be in Griffin on Friday and will conduct meetings with the Griffin Y- Clubs. DOT working on plans for new bridge The Department of Transportation is considering the location and design plans of a replacement bridge over the Southern Railway on West Poplar street.
