Ballet
NEW YORK—lcarus, a Greek mythical character played
by dancer Jorge Donn, flies in amidst dancers during a
scene from Maurice Behart’s “Notre Fauts,” during a
dress rehearsal in New York. The ballet is based on
Goethe’s “Faust.” In Greek mythology, Icarus escaped
imprisonment by donning wax wings but he fell to the sea
when he flew too close to the sun. (AP)
Twenty-one juveniles
face Judge Goza
The cases of 21 children were
handled in Spalding Juvenile
Court with Judge Claude Goza
presiding.
Four boys, a 16-year-old and
three 15-year-olds, were given
probated sentences for several
burglaries and thefts.
All of the stolen items,
including guns and a go-cart,
were returned to their owners.
Two boys, both 15, who had
gotten into a fight were also
placed on probation.
One had been charged with
aggravated assault for cutting
the other. The one who was cut
was charged with simple
battery for slapping during the
fracas. He already was on
probation but was given
another chance by the judge.
A 13-year-old boy who
burglarized Kmart was placed
on probation.
A girl, 16, who threw a soft
drink and then the bottle at
someone was given a probated
sentence.
A 13-year-old girl who
violated her probation after
being placed with her father
will continue on probation and
was ordered to attend school
regularly.
Two boys, 11 and 14, will be
under the supervision of local
juvenile authorities, without
court action, for skipping school
and violating the state’s
compulsory attendance law.
The case of a 16-year-old boy
accused of burglary was
continued until the next term of
court at his attorney’s request.
A girl, 16, who committed a
burglary in another county and
moved to Spalding County was
given a probated sentence.
Custody cases involving eight
children also were handled.
The mother of three was
ordered to cooperate with
welfare workers in their
investigation.
Three others were placed in
temporary custody of the
Spalding County Department of
Family and Children Services
and two were placed with
relatives.
