Expansion SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) - Seating at Syracuse Univer sity’s Manley Fieldhouse will be expanded to accommodate 9,500 spectators in time for the next basketball season. Manley Fieldhouse currently has a capacity of 8,200. The expansion is part of a sl.l million renovation of the fieldhouse and will include more comfortable seating, uni versity officials said. Tourney Dick Slade wins singles match Dick Slade defeated Dean Roberts, 74,74, Friday night in the men’s A singles of the Griffin Tennis Association tournament. In other men’s singles matches, Larry Wix downed Tom Barrett, 6-7, 6-4, 6-2; Lamar Coleman defeated Frank Heflin, 6-0, 6-1; Butch Bethel topped Mike Goldstein, 64, 6-4. Dru Thomas defeated Elaine Farr, 6-1, 6-0, in the women’s singles. Phyllis Henderson scored a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Blanche Easley and Peggy Cobb defeated Linda Skinner 6- 0, 6-1. Jim and Judy Thaxton defeated .Dean and Eleanor Roberts, 6-3, 6-3, in the mixed doubles. The tournament will continue scored in the third, three in the fourth and two in the sixth. The Bears scored on 11 hits. The Bear pitchers yielded only three hits to the Cardinals. Kenny Barrow and Curtis Holmes were the big guns at the plate for the Bears, collecting three hits each. Barrow was three-for-three and Holmes was three-for-four. Jeff Treadway was two-for-four and Pierce Barkley, Danny Gilreach and Jesse Stewart each had 1 hit. Four games are on tap for the Bears next week. Monday afternoon they will play a non region contest against Jackson in Jackson. Jaycees 9 Drug & Surgical, Commercial, Garment win The Jaycees held Spalding Knitting Mill hitless in winning a National Little League contest Friday, 17-3. Drug and Surgical blanked Kiwanis 14-0 in the other National contest. Commercial Bank shutout Pomona 9-0 in an American League battle. Griffin Garment defeated Grandma’s Pig 6-3 while Mays Printing Company and G & H Glass Company battled to an Il li tie. The tie game will be continued. Marty Bradford pitched a no hitter for the Jaycees against Spalding Knitting. He struck out 16 and walked 6. Bobby McClelland went 4 innings for Spalding, striking out 5 and walking 4. Bobby Brown pitched an inning, striking out 3 and walking 6. Kenny Ayers hit a homer for the Jaycees and Gary Harris hit a triple and double. Doug Peaden and Ray Whelchel had triples. Davey Jones had 3 singles. Bill Dunstan PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Veteran defensive tackle Bill Dunstan has been traded to the Buffalo Bills of the National Football League in return for a future draft choice. Dunstan, 28, joined the Eagles as a free agent in 1973 after a season on the New York Jets’ taxi squad.
