Ray City bank robbed of $4,000
RAY CITY, Ga. (AP) - A
bandit robbed the Bank of Ray
City of more than $4,000 Mon
day, about two hours after resi
dents were evacuated from the
town's business district because
of an ammonia leak, authorities
said.
The robbery took place about
10:15 a.m., about two hours
after a leak in a tank of liquid
fertilizer containing ammonia
forced the evacuation of school
children, the elderly and resi
dents within the immediate vi
cinity of the leak.
Ray City police said the rob
ber was at-large Monday night.

BENSENVILLE, ILL., — Ginger Esler, who seldom
leaves her bedroom and cannot dress herself, will
graduate with honors next month from North Central
College where she “attended” classes by using a home
school intercom system. She is a quadriplegic, almost
totally paralyzed by polio that crippled her 17 years ago.
Miss Esler lives with her mother on Social Security
payments in Bensenville, a northwest Chicago suburb.
She majored in psychology and has a straight A average.

spree Monday, killing his wife
and wounding his mother-in-law
and a deputy sheriff before kill
ing himself with a blast to the
head, authorities said.
Tift County authorities identi
fied the victims as Edward
Taylor and his estranged wife,
Virginia.
Mrs. Taylor’s mother, Mrs.
WiUie McDaniel, suffered mi

was living with her mother,
then left, threatening to come
back.
Mrs. McDaniel called her
husband who informed the
sheriff’s office and Keele was
sent to the house.
Keele was inside the house
with the women when Taylor
arrived, and shots were ex
changed.
Taylor then entered the house
and Mrs. Taylor was fataUy
wounded. Mrs. McDaniel ap
parently was hit by stray shot
gun pellets.
Taylor then kiUed himself
with a shotgun blast to the head,
deputies said.
