Man wanted for murder drowns By The Associated Press A man wanted for murder drowned while swimming with friends Sunday, bringing Geor gia’s weekend accidental death toll to 10, authorities said. Ronnie tamar Summers, 29, of Forest Park, drowned Sun day while swimming in West Point Lake. DeKalb County po lice said they had issued a war rant for Summers in connection with the March 26, 1977, shoot ing death of Theodore Cross. Pamela Yvette Harris, 22, of Atlanta, was killed in a head-on crash in the city Sunday after noon, the state patrol said. Authorities said Kirk Robert Cline. 16, of Smyrna, was a passenger in a car which police were pursuing along a north west Atlanta road Sunday. They said Cline was killed when he was thrown from the vehicle after the driver lost control of the car. The driver, identified as Da- NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS AHOY NEW YORK (AP) - Where do you dock a floating nuclear power plant? Not just any where, according to The Com pass, a publication of MOAC, a commercial marine insurer. In an article describing the nation’s first floating nuclear power plant — scheduled for activation in 1984 off the New Jersey coast — The Compass notes that the breakwater for these plants will be the largest, strongest structure ever built in the ocean. It must be capable of protecting the power plant from a one-in-a-rnillion storm with wind velocity up to 300 mph, and be capable of stop ping the largest oil tankers from ramming the plant. The breakwater for the New Jersey power plant will be built about three miles from shore. (AP) - Convicted murderer Curfew Davis faces execution in the electric chair Aug. 2 for the 1974 slaying of 22-year-old Anne Starnes of Columbus. Davis, 40, showed no emotion as a Superior Court jury in Troup County returned the death sentence Saturday night. It was the second time he has been sentenced to die for the slaying of Miss Starnes, a med ical courier. The U.S. Supreme Court last year upheld Davis’ conviction, but overturned the death penal ty sentence because it said po tential jurors opposed to capital punishment were excluded from the jury. Police recover stolen van ALBANY, Ga. (AP) - A fast moving Albany policeman recovered a stolen vehicle be fore it was reported stolen, au thorities say. Patrolman John Godwin said he was on duty in his patrol car Sunday when he saw a man take a van from a used car lot in downtown Albany. (AP) - Some 2,600 Reidsville residents and the Reidsville State Prison were without regular electrical service Sunday after high winds knocked the town’s main power line out of commission. Police said the winds, or pos sibly a small tornado, hit the power line — located in a field north of the town —about 4:45 p.m. Officers said power poles were knocked to the ground and a nearby bam was destroyed. The state prison switched to an emergency generator, offi cers said. A spokesman for the National Weather Service said locally heavy rains had been reported in the area, but no tornadoes had been picked up by radar.
