’ Miss Barbara. Henderson • marries Mr. Raybon Miss Barbara Anne Hen derson became the bride of Mr. Otis Morris Raybon, Jr., in a ceremony performed June 26 at 3 o’clock at the Second Baptist Church in Griffin. The Rev. Otis Raybon, Sr., and the Rev. Billy Southerland performed the double ring ceremony before a background of emerald sprays with a basket of yellow and white mums and glads. The bride is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Ray Henderson of Griffin and the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Troy McDonald Cato of Griffin. Mr. Raybon is the son of the Rev. and Mrs. Otis Morris Raybon, Sr., also of Griffin. Miss Ann Shockley sang “Evergreen,” “The Wedding Song,” and “The Wedding Prayer,” accompanied by Mrs. Carol Hill on the organ. Mr. Steve Corley was the groom’s best man. Ushers were Mr. Don McSwain, Mr. Bill Harris, and Mr. Wendell Lind sey. Candlelighters were Mr. Gary Raybon and Mr. Keith Raybon, brothers of the groom. The bride chose her sister, Miss Pam Henderson of Griffin as maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Neva Herschell of Moultrie, sister of the bride, Miss Patty Raybon of Griffin, sister of the groom, and Mrs. Rhonda Crumbley of Jackson. The attendants wore floor length dresses of blue voile styled with a molded bodice and spaghetti straps and accented with white ribbon and Venise lace trim at the waistline. The dresses were topped With matching sheer voile capelets trimmed in identical ribbon and Venise lace. They wore wide brimmed white straw hats and carried nosegays of yellow daisies, blue carnations and Miss Shirley Bates marries Mr. Chastain Miss Shirley Bates, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Bates, and Mr. Frank Chastain, son of Mr. and Mrs. B. E. Chastain of Brooks, were united in marriage at the Fairview Baptist Church. The Rev. James 0. Blalock performed the ceremony June 25 at 7 o’clock in the evening. Mrs. 'J’anie Bates, sister-in law of the bride, was matron of honor. She wore a maize polyester knit halter style dress with a cape style Jacket. For her bouquet she carried a long stemmed appricot mum. Miss Fran Johnson and Miss Bonnie Biles who are cousins of the bride from Brooks and Mrs. Tommy Bass of Douglasville served as bridemaids. They wore appricot dresses to match the matron of honor. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a white gown of sheer organza and chantilly type lace in the loveliest and most feminine of all bouffant silhouettes. The camisole bodice was accented with lace coming down the center front touched with irridescent to match the cuff of the Victorian sleeves. The self fabric ruffles over skirt flowed to the back into a chapel length train. Each ruffle was edged with matching cameo shaped lace. The basque bodice had a “V” point in the center front. The total look was made complete by a fingertip length veil trimmed with matching lace. She carried a sweetheart cascade bouquet with yellow sweetheart roses, white car nations, fuji mums and baby’s Mrs. Debbie Gilmer, organist, played as Mrs. Tony Walraven, soloist, sang “We’ve Only Just Begun,” and “The Wedding Song, There Is Love.” Mr. Bob Jackson, soloist, sang “The Lord’s Prayer.” Mr. B. E. Chastain, father of the groom, served as his son’s best man. Mr. Joel Bates, brother of the bride, Mr. Keith Chastain, brother of the groom, and Mr. David Huddleston served as groomsmen. Mr. Joel Bates and Mr. Keith Chastain lit the candles. For her daughter’s wedding Mrs. Bates wore a floor length dress of yellow polyester knit. The Victorian neckline and waist length sleeves were trimmed in lace. Mrs. Chastain, mother of the groom, wore a mint green floor baby’s breath. The bride was given in marriage by her uncle, Mr. James Cato, of Lawrenceville. She wore a gown fashioned with an empire waist of sat-a-peau with peau d’ange lace and pearl trim on the bodice and full bishop sleeves. The chapel train was of sat-a-peau and peau d’ange with pearl trim. Her fingertip veil of illusion was attached to an alencon lace cap with beaded pearl trim. The bride’s cascade bouquet was of white pompoms,, yellow roses and gypsophilea. A lace heirloom handkerchief was also placed in the bouquet. Mrs. Cato chose for her granddaughter’s wedding a floor length dress of coral with matching jacket and ac cessories. Her corsage was of cimbidium orchids. The groom’s mother wore a floor length dress of baby blue knit with matching ac cessories. Her corsage of cimbidium orchids completed her ensemble. Following the ceremony the guests were entertained at a reception. The tables were covered with satin and lace. The four-tiered wedding cake decorated with delicate yellow roses was topped with ,a miniature bride and groom. The chocolate groom’s cake was decorated with fresh fruit and a miniature golfer. Servers for the occasion were Mrs. Ann Leverette, Mrs. Vada Cox, Mrs. Peggy Dunn and Mrs. Fran Raybon. Mrs. Melissa Banks kept the bride’s book. The wedding and reception were under the direction of Mrs. Louise Turner of Barnesville. After the honeymoon in Gatlinburg, Tenn. Mr. and Mrs. Raybon will reside in Griffin. length sleeveless dress made of polyester knit. A reception was held in the fellowship hall following the ceremony. Those serving were Mrs. Fred Johnson and Mrs. Johnnie Putman, aunts of the bride, Mrs. Larry Goss and Mrs. Jimmy Chastain, aunts of the groom. Mrs. Keith Chastain kept the bride’s book. After a wedding trip to Gatlinburg, Tenn., Mr. and Mrs. Chastain are residing on Hollonville road near Brooks. Miss Shirley Smith weds Mr. Weldon Miss Shirley Ann Smith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Aaron Smith of Griffin, became the bride of Mr. William Creighton Weldon on June 26 at 4:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of Searcy Memorial United Methodist Church in Griffin. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. William H. Weldon of Griffin. The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. Charles E. Hassell, Jr., former pastor of Searcy Memorial United Methodist Church. The wedding was directed by Mrs. W. T. Butler and Mrs. Carlton English. A program of wedding selections included “Walk Hand in Hand,” ‘‘Whither Thou Goest,” and “The Wedding Prayer,” were presented by Scott Fisher of Atlanta, cousin of the bride, accompanied by Miss Tammy Dooley of Buford, Ga. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown featuring a scoop neckline and long full bishop sleeves of cluney lace. The circular skirt of satapeau formed the chapel train with a cluney lace flounce encircling the hem line and lace medallion appliques accenting the front and back of the gown. Her veil was a short mantilla of bridal illusion attached to Juliet cape of seeded pearls with lace medallion appliques matching her dress. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Marshall Scarborough of Lilburn, for merly of Elberton. The groom is the son of the Rev. and Mrs. S. J. Westbury of Jenkinsburg. The wedding was performed by the Rev. Dave Hunt of Griffin, brother-in-law of the groom, and the Rev. S. J. Westbury who is father of the groom. Mrs. Marilyn Eason of Stone Mountain, sister of the bride, was matron of honor. Miss Gloria Crawford marries Mr. Grogan Miss Gloria Louise Crawford became the bride of Mr. Charles Edward Grogan at Second Baptist Church, Saturday, June 25, at 7:30 p.m. The Rev. William G. Southerland per formed the double-ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward L. Crawford and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hubert E. Grogan, all of Griffin. The church was decorated with an arch candelabra ent wined with pastel colored daisies, baby’s breath, and palm leaf. A three branched Mr. and Mrs. Westbury Eason, niece of the bride. Mr. Dominic Scibetta of New York served as best man. Groomsmen were Mr. Jeff McCullough of Griffin, Mr. Steve Biller of Griffin, Mr. James Eason of Stone Moun tain, brother-in-law of the bride, Mr. Gary Westbury and Mr. Greg Westbury of Conyers, nephews of the groom. Junior ushers were Mr. David Hunt of Griffin and Mr. Joey Westbury of Conyers, nephews of the groom. Jimmy Westbury of Griffin, nephew of the groom, served as ringbearer. Penny and Patty Westbury of Griffin and Elizabeth Hunt of Griffin, nieces of the groom, and Sharon Johnson of Elberton, cousin of the bride, gave out programs at the wedding and birdseed bags at the reception. The bride’s book was kept by Miss Phyllis Westbury of Conyers, niece of the groom. After a honeymoon to Abaco Islands in the Bahamas, the couple is living in Conyers where Mr. Westbury is ad ministrator of the Westbury Medical Care Home. For her daughter’s wedding, Mrs. Smith chose an aqua chiffon dress with empire waist, long sleeves and flowing skirt. The groom’s mother wore a dress of yzllow chiffon with fitted waist, sherred bodice, long sleeves and flowing skirt. The bride’s parents en tertained with a reception immediately following the ceremony in the church fellowship hall' Mrs. Carlton English, Mrs. Terry Graham, Miss Lynn Williams and Miss Susan Williams, all of Griffin, served at the reception. The reception was catered by Mrs. J. K. Gamer of Griffin. Miss Patti Bass of Griffin kept the bride’s book. After a wedding trip to Florida, the couple will reside in Griffin- candelabra was placed at the side of the arrangement. The couple lit the middle candle at the close of the ceremony while Miss Ann Shockley, soloist, sang “The Wedding Song.” Miss Angie Norsworthy, organist, and Miss Carla Cartledge, pianist, presented a program of nuptial music. The processional was “Nadia’s Theme” followed by the “Wedding March.” Miss Ann Shockley sang “We’ve Only Just Begun,” and “That’s the Way” prior to the ceremony. She sang “The Lord’s Prayer” as the couple knelt for the benediction. Mr. James E. Crawford and Mr. Ted H. Meeks lit the candles. Mr. Hubert E. Grogan, father of the groom, served as best man. Mr. Ronnie Grogan, Mr. Kelly Jones, Mr. Terry Walton, Mr. Ken Crawford, Mr. Jack Grogan, and Mr. Teddy Meeks served as groomsmen. Mrs. Deborah 0. Mull served as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Miss Ebbie Griffin, Mrs. Ellen Crawford, Miss Gail Peeples, Mrs. Brenda Meeks, and Miss Hollie Grogan. Little Miss Leighanne Meeks, niece of the groom, served as flower girl and Master Brent Grogan, nephew of the groom, as ring bearer. The bride was given in marriage by her father. She chose a bridal gown of white organza over taffeta. The ruffled bodice with kaftan neckline was accented with Venise and cluny lace. The full flounced skirt swept to a chapel train encircled with matching lace with a minuet back. The bouquet was cascaded in design and styled with white carnations, tropicana roses, baby’s breath, stephanotis, and a large cattleya orchid. Ropes of pearls and satin streamers completed the bouquet. The mother of the bride chose a dress of mint pleated organza over taffeta. She wore matching accessories and a large cattleya orchid as her corsage. The reception was given by the bride’s parents in the church fellowship hall. Mrs. Bernice Stanford and Mrs. Evelyn Culver served as hostesses. Mrs. Dena Cumming registered the guests. The Rev. Riley Fenley per formed the double ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Eva Mae Steward and the late Mr. Robert H. Harper. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Bronson Hayes of Williamson. Mrs. Sandra Moore, organist, presented the wedding music. Songs included were “Love Story,” “I Do,” “The Wedding March,” and “The Bride Chore.” The bride was given in marriage by her brother-in-law, Mr. Roy McChargue. The bride wore a lovely gown of sheer chiffon featuring a high neck with a bodice of accented wiss, chantily lace and seeded pearls. Long fitting sleeves of chantily lace overlayered with full chiffon and cuffed with lace and pearls. A sweeping chapel train of double chiffon com pleted the gown. A fingertip veil with a Juliet cap with matching lace and pearls were worn also. The bride’s bouquet contained daisies, carnations, pompons, and baby’s breath, with red roses presented to the mothers of the bride and groom. Mrs. Mary McChargue was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Lynn Harper and Suann Moore. The matron of honor wore a long blue chiffon gown with angel sleeves. She is the sister of the bride. Bridesmaids wore long blue dottedswisswith matching lace. They also wore a one pearl necklace given to them by the bride. Rice bags were given out by niece of the groom, Marie Smith, and friend of the bride, Lisa Molder. After the wedding a reception was given by the sister of the bride, Mrs. Mary McChargue, in the fellowship hall. Servers were Mrs. Patricia Fenley and Mrs. Mary Newman. The couple is residing in Williamson in their home.
