Busbee asks Carolina
to extradite shrimper
ATLANTA (AP) - Georgia
Gov. George Busbee Friday
asked South Carolina Gov.
James Edwards to extradite a
man who is charged with vio
lating Georgia’s shrimping
laws.
But a spokesman for Edwards
said: “We have not yet received
the extradition papers. When
we do receive them, we will
take a long hard look at the

has said he was shrimping in
South Carolina waters, but
Georgia officials told him he
was fishing in waters closed by
that state.
Georgia’s waters were closed
to shrimping earlier this year
vhen the white shrimp popu
lation was virtually wiped out
by the cold winter.
But larger, brown shrimp
managed to survive in waters
off South Carolina, which
opened its shrimping season
June 16.

waters since have been reopen

Dean Rusk said Friday a U.S.
Army helicopter was shot down
over North Korea this week be
cause the North Koreans “are
not civilized.”
Three soldiers were killed and
a fourth was injured when the
helicopter was shot down
Thursday after it strayed
across the demilitarized zone
which separates North and
South Korea, authorities said.
