during revival services at
Shiloh Baptist Church.
The services will begin each
night at 7:30 through Friday.
The evangelist is the Rev. J.
J. McCrary of Atlanta, formerly
of Griffin.
The pastor is the Rev. F. L.
Paige.
Chamber plans
welcome meet
The Chamber of Commerce
will welcome some 84 new
members during a quarterly
breakfast meeting Friday.
The meeting will be at
Holiday Inn 7:45 a.m. until 9
a.m.

Deaths -F unerals
Mr. Schuler
Mr. Charles Everett “Chuck”
Schuler, 45, of Route Six,
Griffin, died Monday afternoon
at the Spalding-County Hospital
where he was admitted Sunday.
He had been ill since February.
Mr. Schuler was a native of
Cleveland, Ga. He was em
ployed by Johnson and Johnson
Vlotor Lines in Atlanta as a
supervisor until his illness.
He was a veteran of 8 years in
the U. S. Army and one year in
the U. S. Navy. He has lived in
Spalding County for 5 years and
was a member of the Midway
United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife,
Mrs. Nell Cox Schuler; 3
daughters, Mrs. Danny
Craddock of Houston, Texas.,
Mrs. Richard Truitt and Miss
Melanie Powell, both of Griffin;
2 sons, Joseph Alan Schuler of
Griffin and Charles Grady
Powell of Riverdale; his
mother, Mrs. Paula Morris of
Cumming; and 2 sisters, Mrs.
Mike Phillips of Cumming and
Mrs. Edward Carney of Ball
Ground.
The funeral will be Wed
nesday morning at 11 o’clock in
Haisten’s Chapel. The Rev.
Shelby Cook will officiate.
Burial will be Wednesday
afternoon in the Shoal Creek
Baptist Church cemetery near
Cleveland. Haisten Funeral
Home is in charge of
arrangements.

Mr. Colwell
Mr. Elmo P. Colwell, Sr. of
the Fellowship Community of
Butts County died early this
morning at his home after an
illness of several months. He
was a retired farmer.
Funeral arrangements will be
announced by Pittman Rawls
Funeral Home.
County’s last
mule is dead
THOMASTON — The last
mule owned by Upson County
died more than a week ago at
the county work camp where it
had been used to plow gardens
for 12 years. It was about 25
years old.
The county will not replace
the unnamed mule. Instead, it
has bought a small tiller which
commissioners said will cost
less and will not eat every day.
Art show today
A group of neighborhood
children is putting on an art
show today to benefit the
Ronald McDonald House in
Atlanta for parents of children
suffering with leukemia.
All of the money raised
through contributions and the
sale of the artwork will go
toward the construction of the
home.
Mrs. Daisy Shockley, the
children’s art teacher, said the
show will open during the day at
203 Maddox road.
Commercial Bank names
Henderson as director
James H. Henderson, Jr., of
Hampton has been elected a
director of Commercial Bank &
Trust Company.
President Frank Jolly made
the announcement.
Henderson is a lifelong
resident of Hampton. He at
tended North Georgia College
and served 3 years in the U. S.
Navy, subsequently graduating
from Georgia Tech in 1949.
Henderson has been em
ployed by J. M. Tull Metals
Company for 21 years. He is
vice president of the J & J
Machine Shop, Inc. and is a
director of the Bank of Hamp
ton.

Indiana
pair held
Two Indiana teenagers have
been charged with stealing
some SB,OOO worth of electronic
equipment from a guest’s room
at Days Inn on the North
Expressway Monday night.
Charged with theft by taking
were Edwin S. Stanley, 19 and'
William Joseph Dean, 18, both*
of Indianapolis.
The property was recovered.
It included 2 coolers, a
calculator, 3 distance markers,
2 range transmitters, 2 distance
measuring instruments and a
dryer.
