Roy Nixon, district com mander, announced plans for Jane Jones changes mind GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) - Rookie quarterback June Jones, who quit the Atlanta Falcons Sunday, has had a change of heart and will return to the club today, the National Football League team says. Jones, a free agent from Portland State, in a note to Coach Leeman Bennett, said he had lost his desire to play pro fessional football. However, Jones’ father told the club his son would rejoin the team today, a club spokesman said. Homesickness and the fact that Jones’ wife is pregnant in Portland, Ore., apparently played a part in his leaving, the Smokin’ Joe no rabbit PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Former heavyweight champ Joe Frazier says there’s no rabbit’s blood in his veins. I’m sincere about my business. It’s not the money. It’s something that I like.” Frazier scored a fifth-round knockout over Jimmy Ellis in February, 1970, to gain the heavyweight title after Ali had been stripped of the crown for his refusal to enter military service. Frazier lost the title in January, 1973, when he was knocked out by Goerge Fore man in the second round at Kingston, Jamaica. The Astros exploded for six first-inning runs off loser Buzz Capra, 2-9, as Rob Sperry drilled a two-run home run and Howe capped the inning with a grand slam. “I’ve never started here be fore with the Astros,” said Howe who came to Houston in an offseason trade with Pitts burgh. “I couldn’t hit home runs sitting on the bench. “But I think the one tonight would have left any park, any where. Football A1 Hunter suspended Senior A1 Hunter, the only Notre Dame runner to gain 1,- 000 yards in a season and who was suspended for violating dormitory rules and visitations by women, dropped his suit against the University and will be readmitted although his college playing career is over. The agreement came between school officials and Hunter an hour before a hearing was scheduled in St. Joseph’s Circuit Court on Hunter’s suit for injunctive relief, $250,000 in punitive damages and an unspecified amount in compensatory damages. Basketball ACC to add referee RALEIGH, N.C. — The Atlantic Coast Conference will add a third referee to the basketball court this season in an experiment that NCAA officials hope other conferences will try.
