The bride is the daughter of
Mr. Douglas Moore of Griffin
and the late Mrs. Carol P.
Moore. Mr. Allen is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Franklin E. Allen
of Griffin.
Mrs. Jep Childs and Mrs.
Tony Strickland presented a
program of wedding music.
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, wore a gown of
white satin. The gown featured
a scooped neckline overlaid
with lace. Lace appliques and
seed pearls highlighted the skirt
and fell softly to the hemline.
The sleeves came to points over
the hands and small satin
buttons accented the sleeves.
Her floor length train of bridal
illusion was edged with
Brussels lace and adorned with
crystals and seed pearls. She
carried a bouquet of daisies and
miniature carnations with satin
streamers tied in love knots.
Miss Ginger Moore, sister of
the bride, was maid of honor.
Bridesmaids were Miss Becky
Watts, cousin of the bride, Miss
Harritt Martin and Miss Robin
Weldon, cousin of the groom, all
of Griffin.

Calvary Baptist Church in
Barnesville. All friends and

The attendants wore mat
ching gowns of yellow silouette
with white straw hats. Each
carried a long stem daisy with
satin streamers.
Mr. Johnny Bennett, Jr.,
cousin of the groom, served as
best man. Ushers were Mr.
Mike Evans, Mr. Gene Smith
and Mr. Franklin E. Allen,
father of the groom, all of
Griffin.
For her step-daughter’s
wedding, Mrs. Moore chose a
gown of beige chiffon. She wore
a white carnations corsage.
For her son’s wedding, Mrs.
Allen chose a gown of soft green
silouette. She wore a corsage of
white carnations.
The wedding was directed by
Mrs. James Hollingsworth.
Following the wedding, a
reception was held in the church
dining hall.

Waynesville Presbyterian

Simmons of Waynesville, N. C.

groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs.
Kenneth Parker Newbern of

The bride, given in marriage
by her father, was attired in a
gown of white qiana jersey with
accents of reembroidered
alencon lace. The empire gown
was designed with a fitted
bodice featuring a mandarin
neckline and cap sleeves
enhanced with reembroidered
alencon lace. Scallops of
alencon lace edged the hemline
of the gown and extended onto
the chapel length train. Her
fingertip veil of French illusion
was attached to a caplet of
alencon lace embellished with
seed pearls. She carried a
colonial bouquet of stephanotis
and babies’ breath with white
satin streamers.
Sgt. Wise is a 1972 graduate of
Sidney Lanier High School,
Montgomery, Ala. and is
presently serving with the U. S.
Army. He is stationed in Griffin
as a recruiting officer.
He is the grandson of General
and Mrs. Walter W. Wise, Sr. of
Montgomery, Ala.
The wedding is planned for
September 10 at the Milner
United Methodist Church. All
friends and relatives are in
vited.
