L, S2B ♦ segregationist movement, was free on SIO,OOO bond today after being charged in connection with a 1958 Alabama church bombing. Stoner has said that, as part of his fight against the charge, he would name an FBI agent who he says offered him $25,000 to have the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. murdered in 1957. Stoner has contended the FBI agent insisted that King be shot to death with a rifle. That was the way King died in Memphis in 1968. The warrant from Birming ham, Ala., charges Stoner with “setting off dynamite dan gerously near an inhabited dwelling.” The charge relates to the 1958 bombing of the Bethel Baptist Church in Birmingham, sources there said. The church was va cant at the time, but a house next door was inhabited. Stoner said in an interview that in addition to the offer to pay for King’s death, the FBI agent and a Birmingham po liceman offered him $2,000 to bomb a church. ■■■■■a Drive a beauty. or drive a bargain.
