Gettings, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Hal and Mary Jane Get tings of Orlando, was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha, the only medical honor society, was presented the dean’s award, a gold stethoscope and a gold, engraved watch. Dr. Gettings is a cardiologist and will spend 5 years in residency in the Tampa area. Sickle cell testing to be held Sickle cell anemia testing will be administered Saturday from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m. in Griffin High’s senior parking lot. The Bogarsun and Bogarsette Civic Clubs at Griffin High are conducting a community cam paign project to encourage wide participation in the free testing program. They have been distributing literature concerning the disease which primarily strikes blacks. The actual testing will be administered by the Sickle Cell Foundation of Georgia, Inc., and those tested will be advised at a later date concerning the test results. Only one blood test is needed to determine whether a person has either the disease or the trait. The foundation can advise those tested as to exactly which form of the disease they have.
