there, except a slight discoloration to the projecting
ends of a few papers, and the backs of ono or two of
the books, caused by tho stoam generated In the
Safe, whllo at its greatest heat.
The Safo and contents, as it camo from tho ruins,
may «t!U be seen, in tho possession of Mr. Thomas,

Tbo proposals for supplying fuel, both coal und
wood, must state distinctly the price por toil and
cord, ami the kind mid quality of each, to be deliver
ed on board of each light-vessel respectively.
Ono bidder may oiler for all tlio rations and fuel
required for ull tlio light vessels In this district, or
for ono or more of tho vossols separately, at Ins own
option. The kiud and quuutity of fuel will be deter
mined upon, and tho contractor informed accord
ingly, in advance of tho time fur ntuking the quar
terly deliveries of rations ou board of the respective
light-vessels.
Each bidder is roqulrcd to attach to bis bid or
bids a written guarunloo, signed by himself and u
rospouslblo surety, that, ill tho ovout ot tho contract

in conformity to tlio terms or this advertisement.
Tho contractor will bo required to enter into bond
with approved security for the faithful execution of

dent or inspector of lights, nor any poi son connect
ed With the Light-house establishment, will bo al
lowed to coutract for or deliver rations for tho crew,
or fuel of a light-vessel, nor to bo interested In such
contract.
No contractor, superintendent, or inspector will
bo allowed to change tho parts ortho ration, nor the
times that nmy bodetermined upon for Iho delivery,
without authority of tho Board.
All Iho articles constituting tho ration for the crow
of light-vessels will bo examined, nud their quality
approved by tlio superintendent, or tho Inspector or
tlio district, or by such other person as may bo as
signed to perform that duty ;uud uo bills will bo
paid for rations aud fuel which aro not accompuuied
by receipts duly signed by tho respective llght-vcs-
sel keepers for tbo different articles constituting the
rations for tho crew for each quarter, aud separate
receipts lornbo kind uud quantity of fool delivered
on board of each light-vessol.
No bid which is uot properly seated and endorsed
