Saturday it appeared that Mr. Edwards had
given notice ol Ids intention to introduce a bill
for the removing the seat of Government from

miles of Cincinnati.
Mr. Jones, of Tenucsseo, moved to Htrike out
the notice, contending that it could there up*

day.
Ninety-two members only voted, and for
want of a quorum the House adjourned.

of Philadelphia, this morning visited Wheat*
laud, the residence of Mr. Buchanan, escorted
by several hundred citizens.
The President of the Club iu an eloqueut
speech, congratulated Mr. Uuehanan on his
nomination by the Democratic Convention, and
hailed him as the nations choice.
Mr. Buclmuan replied:
Gentlemen of the Keystone Clubl congratu
late you, not upon my nomination, but upon the
glorious termination oi the l«\>or» of the Con
vention. I am indeed proud of it, aud shall long
cherish the pleasant recollections with regard to
it. 1 was selected as their choice, but had that
choice fallen upon any other I would have
clierlhlly yielded to the will of the majority,
lie concluded by a hearty approval of the plat
form put forth by the Convention.
After a personal introduction to the members
of the Club, he invited them into refreshments.
—When they left, Mr. Buchanan escorted them
some distance* trom Wheatland, aud gave them
a friendly parting.

under date of the 21st ult. writes thut Mr. Fill
more arrived in that city ou the 20th from
Copenhagen, lie left Home with a view to go
to Russia, hut found the Baltic blocked with
ice. So he returned to Paris, uml will, in a few
days, leave for England. The writer adds:

weeks, lie looks remarkably well, and I venture
to say is the most composed candidate for the
Presidency now extaut.
Mr. Fillmore received the first official in for
mation of his nomination by the American par
ty in Venice, and a duplicate of it here the day
before yesterday. His acceptance goes out by
the same mail which carries this letter. Mr. F.
endorses tho general principles of the platform,
and condemns nil sectioual agitation. He ac
cepts the nomination as a national man."

—Providence, June 9—The meeting last night
to give an expression of opinion on the assault
on Senator Sumner was the largest and most re
spectable ever held in this city. Alex. Duncan
presided. The resolutions were offered by Prof.
Caswell. Dr. Hedge, Prof, flammell, Charles
S. Bradley, Dr. Wayland and Thomas Davis ad
dressed the assembly. A very deep feeling was
manifested. The sentiments of the speeches
aud resolutions, which were calm, temperate
and firm, were warmly responded to.
