take the South-Side Railroad cars nt Petersburg, nr
the Richmond aud Danville cars at Richmond, at 6
A. Fl., daily, (Sundays excepted,) arrive at Lynch
burg to dinner, and thence, via tho Virginia and
Tennessee Railroad, reach lionsack’s Depot at 3 1-4,
anil Salem ut 4 P. FL, and at either place take
Kent, Summrraott Si Co’s Fine Line of
Stages!
Those via Bonsack’s lodge at Kincastle, dine at the
Red Sweet, or Sweet Springs, and arrive at the
White Sulphur Springs, (17 miles) early ou the
evening ofthe second day irom Petersburg, or Rich
mond, without NIGHT TRAVEL, and with but 04
miles of Staging. Or by the 8alem route, stop all
night at the Roanoke Red Sulphur Springs, (10
miles distant Trom Salem,) dine at tho Red Sweet,
or Sweet Springs, and arrive at tho While Sulphur
Springs on the evening of tho following day.
The Virginia k Tennessee Railroad I s located
through a most romantic country, possessing a cli
mate unsurpassefi for its salubrity and delightful tem
perature. The road passes the base or the

Ami within three miles ofthe Alleghany Spring!-,
oue mile ofthe Montgomery White Sulphur Springs,
and within four miles or the Yellow Sulphur Springs;
all pleasantly situated a few miles apart, outlie
Eastern slope of tho Alleghany mountain, in Mont
goraory county. The waters of those Springs are
celebrated for their great medicinal qualities, the ac
commodations arc excellent, and have been greatly
increased sinco last season.

Kent. Summerson k Co’s Stages at New hern Depot,
on the evening of the day that they leave Peters
burg or Richmond, and arrive at tho Springs on the
following day to uinner, and Sait Sulphur Springs
early in the ovoulug or 4he second day from Rich
mond or Petersburg.
The Road from Newbern Depot to the Red Sul
phur Springs, (38 miles,) has been graded nnJ
greatly improved since lost season, and is now re
garded asoue nr the best turnpikes in the moun
tains.
The lino of Telegraph from Richmond will be com
pleted and in operation to the Flootgomery White
Sulphur Springs early in June.
Passengers to Knoxville, Tcnucssce, take Kent,
Sutnmorson k Go’s stages at tho Wnuteru terminus
ofthe Virginia k Tennessee Railroad, now 180 miles
from Lynchburg (and being extended Westward at
tha rale ot 8 miles per mouth) to the Eastern termi
nus or the East Tennessee and Virginia Railroad,
and arrive at Knoxville in 21-2 days from Peters
burg or Richmond.

Each bidder is required to attach to his bid or
bids a written guarantee, signed by himself und a
resi>onslble surety, that, in the event ofthe contract
being awarded to him, be will faithfully execute it
in couformity to tho terms of this advertisement.
The contractor will be required to enter into bond
with approved security for tho faithful execution of
the contract; and no bid will be accented or coutract

form for their exhibition. Tho experiments have

from in a highly concentrated form, aud arc the most
