It Is gratifying to tbe proprietor or these medicines
to bo able to statu that it is now nearly threo years
since they wero first introduced, during which time
they havo boon extensively used in various parts of
the United States, uud have givon to patient and
practitioner tho highost degree of satisfaction In tbe
various coses iu which they have been employed;
whether In town, couutry, hospital or private prac
tice, they have invariably given tho most decided
and unequivocal satisfaction, and produced the most
salutary und beneficial elltoctfi. Numerous letters
havo been received from the mast distinguished
physicians in the country, aud from tbe professors
of several medical colleges, recommending in tbe
highest terms tho value of these modiclnes, and
their superiority over all other preparations for
such complaints us the proprietor recommends.
Numerous preparation* of Sarsaparilla and ofBuchu
and various modc3 of prepuring them have been
given, all or which or courso will differ according to
the mode of preparation wlilch each individual may
adopt.
These medicines require considerable care in tbo
preparation and tho employment of different men

quently improjicrly made, aud not nnfrequently
much impaired, if not reudered totally inert, by the

therefore of tho highest consideration aud import
ance to tho public aud to the faculty that there
should be standard preparations of uniform strength
and iKisdosslng the most advantages. To effect tlii*
and obviate tho ovll alluded to, I have made a num
ber of experiments to ascertain the most effectual
mode of extracting tho virtues of tho Sarsaparilla
and the Bucbu, aud to discover tho most eligible
form for their exhibition. The experiments have
resulted most favorably, and it is with much pleas
