be evacuated before the end of this month; and the Palatine
troops, that are to enter in garrison here, are ready to march
from Juiiers and Duren on the firft notice.
Cologne , Dee. 17. It is probable the garrison the French
have had ever since April 1757, will soon quit this town,*
as the commandant has delivered the keys ot the city to the’

There is great appearance aifo, that Prince Ferdinand of
Brunswick, as soon as the allied troops arc all fettled in

after the definitive treaty between us and the Austrians

Cbarlf/ioivn, March *3. Captains Wright and Johnson,
in two privateers belonging to New-York, have sent in there
a French (hip, richly laden, from Bourdeaux for St. Do

March 30. On Sunday last arrived here from St. Augu

Carey., Esq; who went with dispatches, containing authen
tick accounts of the ratification of the preliminary articles
of peace, from his Excellency our Governor and Captain
Goodall, to the Governor of St. Augulline. Capt. Carey
arrived off of St. Augulline 16th inlf. and failed next day.
He sent the dispatches alhorc by his Lieutenant Mr. Sandy*,
who was very politely treated oy the Spaniards and brought
off the answers to the letters. By the said ship of war wq
learn as follows, •* March 16, 1763, there were at N st. Au
gullire three privateers laid up, viz. a Hoop of eight guns,
a schooner of fix guns, and another fmail schooner of fix
fwivcls, a tender to the other.—A schooner lately arrived
there from the Havana with an exp refs from Old-Spain, and
a letter from Gen. Keppcl, with an invitation to the Bilhop
of Cuba to return to the Havana, which he intends to do.—
A Hoop failed 20 days before for the Havana, bat had no
commUfion. They had no privateers at sea for two months
before, nor have any vessels been carried in there since the
cessation of hollilities. The Spaniards are very sorry to
leave St. Augulline: Provisions are plenty there, a* they
have had two Hoops from La Vera Cruz loaded with them.
Two privateer fehooners failed from St. Augulline four
months before tocruile off Cuba, and were both 101 l there.”
