' rpHE following communication appeared in
-L the last Georgia Telegraph, and must be re
plete w ith interest to all similarly afflicted. Mr.
Smith is a printer by profession, and is employ
ed in that office—be relates his experience, which
after all is the best criterion by which to judge
of the value of remedies. Advertisements and
high sounding statements may be set forth, and
thus give an ephemeral character and existence
to remedies, which when judged by this test,
lose all their value, and become defunct; not so,
however, with those which have thus been test
ed, and have passed through the ordeal ; for of
them, we state what has occurred, and from that
deduce what may be expected. But to the com
munication, it will speak for itself.

Dear Sir:— While so many certificates of in
dividuals living ofi'at great distance are appear
ing in the papers commendatory of Balsams,
Syrups, Fills and Powders, I think it but
right that medical research aud superior success
of some of our practitioners at home should be
made known to our community, that those of
our neighborhood who are afflicted may not on
ly save their health but their money also, and at
the same time encourage the efforts of those who
would give character and consequence to this
section of the Union. 1 have been led to these
remarks by the teachings of my own experi
ence :
About seven years ago I xvas attacked with a
disease of the liver and lungs, accompanied with
hternorrhage or spitting of blood, with severe
and most harrassing and distressing cough, cold
sweats of nights, with a wasting diarrhter, and
a great part of the time confined to my bed, and
so debilitated generally, that I could do but lit
tle in the way of business 1 thus continued
for over five years, making every effort during
that time to regain my health. 1 firstapplied to
thephyseians ofSavannah, where I then resided,
but their efforts failed to relieve me. I then
tried liouck's Panacea for a long time—then
YVistar's Balsam of Wild Cherry, Ac., till I had
spent hundreds of dollars in their purchase, and
still found myself as bad off as before. I then
applied to your townsman, Dr. M. S. Thomson,
who I am happy to say, after treating my esse
some 6 or 7 moutlis, restored me to sound, and
I believe to permanent health, for I am nowand
have been for the last 18 months in the enjoy
ment of uninterrupted health. This is my ex
perience, and I doubt not you will agree with
me in the opinion, that I have good reasons for
recommending the Doctor and his remedies in
eases of this kind, far above the most eminent
physicians whose skill 1 had tested, and the fur
famed and much boasted balsams and panaceas
with which 1 had been dosed. Let others do
likewise, if they would be cured, and that they
may not perish for lack of knowledge, I here
by request that you will give publicity to nr.y
statement in your widely circulating sheet, and
much oblige yours, respectfully,
JOHN 11. SMITH.
The following letters are given, not so much
on account of the facts they contain, though they
are important, as to give an idea or specimen of
many of the same kind that are borne to the
subscriber by almost every Mail from the North,
South, East and West. They were notintended
for publication, and are therefore the more to be
relied on, and appreciated.

Dr. M. S. Thomson,
Dear Sir : —1 hope you will excuse me for not
writing to you sooner. I have not forgot you,
neither will 1 forget to pay you when 1 sell my
cotton.
1 am much gratified in being able to announce
that my son has got almost entirely well, so
much so, that all those symptoms of disease
have left him, hut the enlargement of the spleen
which lias not entirely gone. To look at his
situation eight months back, and to look at him
now ,it seems almost as one risen from the dead.
I say to you, there is r,o more healthy looking
youth in all this county, indeed his whole sys
tem is regular and easy. God knows how long
lie will remain so, but I hope he will to the end
of life. He has not taken any medicine for the
iast four months, yet fie is thirty pounds heaver
than before that time. 1 had applied to Piiysi
cians of both the Mineral and Botanic Schools,
of eminent general qualifications, bu tall to no
benefit, but thanks to God, and gratitude to you
for his restoration. My feelings are indeed un
speakable. BENJAMIN JONES.

Dr. !\I. S. Thoxison,
Dear Sir: —It is with pleasure that I write to
you, to inform you of the improvement of my
health. 1 have followed yourdirections as near
as I have been able, and I think I have not
missed the proper way far. The medicine is
nearly gone, and l feel like anew man. I have
not changed much in my appearance, but surely
in my feelings lam well. I now can enjoy my

myself; this world looks bright, and I feel hap

to make sure of it, please send it and oblige,

RADYVAY S READY RELIEF for Pain,
is truly a blessing to suffering humanity.
The lame are rejoiced at its curative properties,
for they can dispense with their crutches and
walk. The weak bless it as an instrument in
the hands of Providence, for by its healing and
strengthening qualities they become strong. The
bed-ridden welcome it as a blessing from high
heaven, for it relieves them of their pain and
misery, cures their diseases whether it be Rheu
matism, Lumbago, Gout, Paralysis, Strains,
Burns, Scalds, Sores, Sprains, and affections of
the Spine, or contracted Tendons, for bv its use
they are enabled to arise from their bed of sick
ness, and enjoy the pleasures and blessings of
health. The sufferer of Ncuralga and Tic Dolo
reux, welcomes it as their only remedy in reliev
ing them of the cruel pains, shooting like elec
tric shocks through the face, bead, and system,
paralyzing in an instant their energies and bright
est hopes, for the Ready Relief is a powerful
antidote for all Nervous and Rheumatic affec
tions, and will cure this powerful disease when
all other remedies have failed to give relief.—
The sufferer of Tooth Ache, rejoices when he
uses the Ready Relief, for it will cure the most
torturing loolli Ache in a few seconds.
So quick, powerful and effectual is Rad way’s
Heady Reliefin all cases where pain is caused
by external injuries or internal derangement,
that it has relieved the most severe pains of
Chronie Rheumatism during one application of
the Relief.
Its Superior Strength. —Radway’s Ready Re
lief is also the most economical medicine in use,
it can be used with the most happy results, both
internally and externally. Cramps in the Stom
ach, Colic, or Cholera Morbus, are relieved in
ten minutes, and cured entirely in fifteen or
twenty. Also if you wish to make an ointment
ol'it, for the cure of sore lips, chapped flesh, pus
tular eruptions, take a tea-spoonful of the Relief,
and a table-spoonful of Sweet Oil, or one ounce’
of Lard, and you have a better ointment or salve
than any other article now in use.
In fact, this medicine, when reduced to two
thirds its own strength by adding as much spirits
of winwill give you better Liniment than anv
now in use.
See that each bottle bears the sac-simile signa
ture of RADYVAY & CO.—None other is genu
ine—price 25 cents, large bottles.
The Crowning Ornament of Beauty is a Beau
tiful Head of Luxuriant Hair. —The lady or
gentleman who desires a beautiful article to
dress their Hair, are advised to make use of
Rad way s Circassian Balm—it possesses many
advantages over all other hair tonics and pre
parations. I' irst, it cleanses the scalp from dan
ruff, gives tone and vigor to the roots and bulbs,
invigorates to healthy action the germ of life,
which gives to the hair a healthy root, and forces
the hair to grow—it cures baldness, stops the
hair from falling out, makes it fine, strong, soil
and glossy, keeps it from turning gray, or be
coming discolored. It is truly a luxury to dress
the hair with this delicious preparation.
Her Hair was all Gone. —Rad way's Circas
sian Balm, for invigorating the hair, cleansing
the sculp, removing dandruff", and curin'' bald
ness, is truly a valuable preparation. A lady
who bad been sick for some time had lost every
particle oflier hair, previous toiler sickness her
iiair would fall out : she was recommended to

Black Spots on the Skin. —During the summer
season vve frequently meet with persons who
are sorely annoyed with black spots, about the
size of a pin’s head, just under the lining of the
surface—these spots are truly annoying and re
pulsive in appearance ; they are nothing more
or less than dust, the skin being warm and the
individual perspiring freely, the dust closing up
the ducts of the sebaceous glands, their oily" se
cretions are not given off, and conscouently a
cheesy deposit is the result; this becomes rancid
and turns black, disfigures the complexion, and :
often inflames and suppurates. Let Radway’s j
Soap he freely used, absorption will take piece, i
and the spots speedily disappear. Also, if Rad- i
way’s Soap was made use of as a Toilet Soap !
through the day, these spots, and other annoying
excressenecs, would not trouble you.
The extraordinary effects of Radway’s Soap
in removing Tan, Sun Burn, Pimples, Blotches, !
Pustules, Tetter, Rash Scurvy Moruhcw and :
Bites and Stings of Insects, is truly astonishing; !
besides, it is certian of transforming a dark, dis- I
colored and repulsive visage, to a clean and
beautiful complexion. In all eases ask for Rad
wav’s Soap and take none other.

is manufactured on the largest scale, anil is called for
throughout the length ami breadth of the land, especially
ns it is lounil incapable of degeneration or deterioration.
Unlike young 8. P Townsend’s, it improves with age, and
never changes, hut for the liettcr : because it is prepared on
scientific principles by a scientific man. The highest knowl
edge of Chemistry, and the latest discoveries of the art,
have all been brought into requisition in the manufacture
of the Old Dr’s Sarsaparilla. The Sarsaparilla root, it is
well known to medical men, contains many medicinal pro
perties, and some properties which arc inert or useless, and
others, w hich if retained in preparing it for use, produce
fermentation and acid, which is injurious to the system.
Some of the properties of Sarsaparilla are so volatile , that
they entirely evaporate and are lost in -.he preparation, if
they are not preserved by a scientific process, known only
to those experienced in its manufacture. Moreover, these
volatile principles, which fly otf in vapor, or as an exhala
tion. under heat, are the very essential medical properties
of the root, w hich give to it all its value.
Any person can boil or stew the root till they get a dark
colored liquid, which is more from the coloring mailer in
the root than from any thing else; they can then strain
this Insipid or vapid liquid, sweeten xvith sour molasses,
and then c all it " SAUSAPARII.I.A EXTRACT or SY
RUP.” Hut such is not the article know nas the
GENUINE OLD DR. JACOB TOWNSEND’S
SARSAPARILLA.
This is so prepared, that all the inert properties of the
Sarsaparilla root are first removed, every thing capable of
becoming odd or of fermentation, is extracted anil rejected,
then every particle of medical virtue is secured in a pure
anil concentrated form; and thus it is rendered incapable of
losing any of its valuable and healing properties. Prepared
in this xvay, it is made the most powerful agent in the
Cure of innumerable diseases.
Hence the reason why Yve hear commendations on every
side In its favor by men, women, and children. We find it
doing wonders in the cure of
COJVSUMPTI( )JV, DYSVKPSTA , and LIVER COM

PILES, COS'J / VEJSr ESS, all CUTANEOUS Fit UP
TICNS, PIMPLES , BLOCTHFS, and all affectiout
arising from
IMPURITY OF THE BLOOD.
It possesses a marvellous efficacy in all complaints Arising
from Indigestion, from .‘lcidity of the Stomach, from unequal
circulation, determination of blood to the head, palpitation
of the heart, cold feet and hands, cold chills and hot Hashes
over the body. It has not its equal in Colds and Coughs;
and promotes easy expectoration and gentle iienpimtion,
relaxing stricture of the iungs, throat, and every other part.
Hut in nothing is its excellence more manifestly seeu and
acknowledged thnn in all kinds and stages of
FEMALE COMPLAINTS.
It works wonders in cases of F>uor ALbus or IVhites , Rill
ing of the IVumb, Obstructed, Suppressed, or Painful Menses,
Irregularity of the menstrual periods, and the liKe; and
is as etfeciual in curing all the forms of Kidney Diseases.
Hy removing obstructions, and regulating the general
system, it gives tone and strength to the yv hole body, aud
thus cures all forms of
Nervous diseases and debility,
and thus prevents or relieves a great variety of other uiala
dies, as Spinal irritation. Neuralgia , St. Vitus' Dance.
Swooning, Epileptic Fits, Convulsions, &.c.
It cleanses the blood, excites the liver to healthy action,
tones the stomach, and gives good digestion, relieves the
boYvels of torpor and constipation, allays intlaiiimHtmn,
.mrifies the skin, equalises the circulation of the blood,
producing gentle warmth equally «!! over th« body, and
the insensible perspiration; relaxes all strictures and light
ness, removes ail obstructions, and invigorates the entire
