tplIE following communication appeared in
| JL the last Georgia Telegraph, and uiuslbe re
plete with interest to all similarly afflicted. Mr.
Smith is a printer by profession, and is employ
ed in that office—he relates his experience, which
: after all is the best criterion by which to judge
jof the value of remedies. Advertisements and
high sounding statements may be set forth, and
thus give an ephemeral character and existence
1 to remedies, which when judged hy this test,
lose all their value, and become defunct; not so,
j however, with those which have thus been test
ed, and have passed through the ordeal ; for of
i them, we state what has occurred, and from that
deduce what may be expected. But to the com
munication, it will speak for itself.

De ar Sir :— While so many certificates of in-
I dividuals living oft'at great distance are appear
ing in the papers commendatory of Balsams,
| Syrups, Pills and Powders, 1 think it hut
right that medical research and superior success
l of some of our practitioners at home should be
| made known to our community, that those of
| our neighborhood who are afflicted may not on.
! ly save their health but their money also, and at
| the same time encourage the efforts of those who
would give character and consequence to this
section of the Union. I have been led to these
j remarks by the teachings of my own experi
'ence :
About seven years ago I was attacked with a
disease of the liver and lungs, accompanied with
hcemorrhage or spitting of blood, with severe
and most harrassing and distressing cough, cold
sweats of nights, with a wasting diarrher, and
a great part of the time confined to my bed, and
so debilitated generally, that 1 could do but lit
tle in the way of business 1 thus continued
for over five years, making every effort during
that time to regain my health. 1 firstapplied to
1 thephyscians ofSuvannuh, where 1 then resided,
i but their efforts failed to relieve me. I then
tried Houck’s Panacea for a long time—then
Wistar’s Balsam of Wild Cherry, See., till I had
spent hundreds of dollars in their purchase, and
still found myself as had oft’ as before. 1 then
applied to your townsman, Dr. M. S. Thomson,
who 1 am happy to say, after treating my case
some 6 or 7 months, restored me to sound, and
1 believe to permanent health, for I am nowand
have been for the last 18 months in the enjoy
ment of uninterrupted health. This is my ex
perience, and 1 doubt not you will agree with
me in the opinion, that 1 have good reasons for
recommending the Doctor and his remedies in
cases of this kind, far above the most eminent
phvsicians whose skill 1 had tested, and the fur
famed and much boasted balsams and panaceas
with which I had been dosed. Let others do
likewise, if they would he. cured, and that they
may not perish for lack of knowledge, I here
by request that you will give publicity to nr.y
statement in your widely circulating sheet, and
much oblige yours, respectfully,
JOHN 11. SMITH.
The following letters are given, not so much
on account of the facts they contain, though they
are important, as to give an idea or specimen of
many of the same kind that are borne to the
■subscriber by almost every Mail from the North,
South, East and West. They were not intended
for publication, and are therefore the more to be
relied on, and appreciated.
Benjamin Jones’ Letter.

Dr. 31. S. Thomson,
Dear Sir : —I hope you will excuse n.e for not
writing to you sooner. I have not forgot you,
neither will 1 forget to pay you when 1 sell my
cotton.
I am much gratified in being able to announce
that my son has got almost entirely well, so
much so, that all those symptoms of disease
have left him, but the enlargement of the spleen
which has not entirely gone. To look at his
situation eight months back, and to look at him
non it seems almost as one risen from the dead.
I say to you, there is no more healthy looking
youth in "all thiscounty, indeed his whole sys
tem is regular and easy. God knows how long
lie will remain so, but I hope he will to the end
of life. He has not taken any medicine forthe
last four months, yet he is thirty pounds heaver
than before that t'ime. I had applied to Physi
cians of both the Mineral and Botanic Schools,
of eminent general qualifications, bu t all to no
benefit, but thanks to God, and gratitude to you
for his restoration. 31y feelings are indeed un
speakable. BENJAMIN JONES.

Dr. 31. S. Thomson,
Dear Sir : —lt is with pleasure that I write to
vou to inform you of the improvement of my
heal’th. 1 have followed your directions as near
as I have been able, and I think I have not
missed the proper way far. The medicine is
nearly gone, and I fee! like anew man. I have
not changed much in my appearance, but surely
in my feelings lam well. I now can enjoy my
self with my family, my neighbors and even
myself; this world looks bright, and I feel hap
py in the anticipation of the future. I atn en

disease with which I have been afflicted. It
you think 1 had belter take some more medicine
to make sure of it, please send it and oblige,
Yours respectfully, W3I. W. WALKER.
I’ersons desirous oftesling the efficacy oftliese

RADWAY’S READY RELIEF for k Pain,
is truly a blessing to suffering humanity.
The lame ate rejoiced at its curative properties,
for they can dispense with their crutches and
walk. The weak bless it as an instrument in
the hands of Providence, for hy its healing and
.strengthening qualities they become strong. The
bed-ridden welcome it as a blessing from high
heavon, for it relieves them of their pain and
misery, cures their diseases whether it he Rheu
matism, Lumbago, Gout, Paralysis, Strains,
Burns, Scalds, Sores, Sprains, arid affections of
the Spine, or contracted Tendons, (or by its use
they are enabled to arise from their bed of sick- 1
ness, and enjoy the pleasures und blessings of
health. The sufferer of Neuralga and Tic Ltolo.
reux, welcomes it as their only remedy in reliev
ing them of the cruel pains, shooting like elec
tric shocks through the face, head, and system,
paralyzing in an instant their energies and bright
est hopes, tor the Ready Relief is a powerful
antidote for all Nervous and Rheumatic affec
tions, and will cure this powerful disease when
all other remedies have failed to give relief.—
The sufferer of Tooth Ache, rejoices when he
uses the Ready Relief, for it will cure the most
torturing Tooth Ache in a few seconds.
So quick, powerful and effectual is Radway\s
Ready Relief in all cases where pain is caused
by external injuries or internal derangement,
that it has relieved the most severe pains of
Chronic Rheumatism during one application of
the Relief.
Its Superior Streugth —Radway’s Ready Re
lict is also the most economical medicine in use,
it can be used with the most happy results, both
internally and externally. Cramps in the Slum,
ach, Colic, or Cholera 31orbus, are relieved in
ten minutes, and cured entirely in fifteen or
twenty. Also if you wish to make an ointment
ot it, for the cure of sore lips, chapped flesh, pus
tular eruptions, take a tea-spoonful of the Relief,
and a table-spoonful of Sweet Oil, or one ounce
of Lard, and you have a better ointment or salve
than any other article now in use.
In fact, this medicine, when reduced to two
thirds its own strength by adding as much spirits
of wine, will give you better Liniment than anv
now in use.
See that each bottle bears the fac-sitni le signa
ture of RADWAY Sc CO.—None other is genu

The Crowning Ornament of Beauty is a Beau
tiful Head of Luxuriant Hair. — The lady or
gentleman who desires a beautiful article to
dress their Hair, are advised to make use of
Radway’s Circassian Balm—it possesses many
advantages overall other hair tonics and pre
parations. First, it cleanses the sealp from dan
ruff', gives tone and vigor to the roots and bulbs,
invigorates to healthy action the germ of life,
which giv es to the hair a healthy root, and forces
the hair to grow—it cures baldness, stops the
hair from fulling out, makes it fine, strong, sol
and glossy, keeps it from turning gray, or be
coming discolored. It is truly a luxury to dress
the hair with this delicious preparation.
Her Ilair teas all Gone. —Rad way s Circas
sian Balm, for invigorating the hair, cleansing
the scalp, removing dandruff, und curing bald
ness, is truly a valuable preparation. A lady
who had been sick for some time had lost every
particle ofher hair, previous to her sickness her
hair would fall out: she was recommended to
try the Circasian Balm as a hair restorer, she
used six bottles with the most happy results, her
hair is now fine, soft, glossy, long, aed luxuriant.

Black Spots on the Skin. —During the summer
season we frequently meet with persons who
are sorely annoy ed with black spots, about the
size of a pin’s head, just under the lining of the
surface—these spots are truly annoying and re
pulsive in appearance; they are nothing more
or less than dust, the skin being warm and the
individual perspiring freely, the dust closing up
the ducts of the sebaceous glands, their oily se
cretions are not given off', and consequently a
cheesy deposit is the result; this becomes rancid
and turns black, disfigures the complexion, and
often inflames and suppurates Let Radwny’s
Soap be freely used, absorption will take place,
ajid the spots speedily disappear. Also, if Rad
way’s Soap was made, use of as a Toilet Soap
through the day, these spots, and other annoying
excressences, would not trouble you.
The extraordinary effects of Rad way’s Soap
in removing Tan, Sun Burn, Pimples, Blotches,
Pustules, Tetter, Rash, Scurvy, Morphew, and
Bites and Stings of Insects, is truly astonishing;
besides, it is enrtinn of transforming a dark, dis
colored and repulsive visage, to a clean and
beautiful complexion. In all cases ask For Rad
wav’s Soap and take none other.
N. B.— Radway ’s Medicated Soap in steel en
gravings are 25 cents, all others are counterfeit.

Some of the properties of Sarsaparilla are so volatile, that
they entirely evaporate and are lost in he preparation, if
they are not preserved by a scientific process, known only
to those experienced in its manufacture. Moreover, these
volatile principles, which fly off in vapor, or as an exhala

Any person can boil or stew the root till they get a dark
