The First Metbodist Church—Peach
tree street, is assuming grand proportions
and a sightly appearance, as it approach
es completion. The wholesouled ladies
of that Church and congregation have
mode arrangements to hold a Fair to
raise funds to complete the Church, dur
ing our great Fair at Oglethorpe Park,
commencing the 16th instant. It is in
tended to eclipse anything of the kind,
in brilliancy and attractiveness, that ever
was gotten up in Atlanta, and we have
no doubt will be a perfect suocess in this
respect.
The Committee appointed for the pur
pose—Colonel R. F. Maddox, and Dr.
H. L. Wilson—have Becured for thispnr
pose, James’ new Hall, which will be
handsomely fitted up aud tastefully orna
mented. Its first occupancy will be for
this noble purpose.
The Ladies respectfully solicit donations
for the Fair. Any contributions will be
