That we may present our reader* with this truly eloquent address, other tortures In Msmortam must be dotorred till this afternoon. Suffice to sey here, that the scene in and about the CUy Cemetery waa rare blending of sublimity with beauty. Probably 6,000 people were present. The song, “Beautiful River," and the hymn, “Before (he Throne of God, 1 waa by the children of the Orphans' Free School. At (be close of the latter, the Band played “Corona tion." The Ladles of the Memorial Association, surely must feel perfectly latlallod at such b< arty auimous appreciation of their labors in “preserving ths memory of our fallen heroes, of making beeuti ful the sacrifice of their lives, and of garlanding with dowers the gateway of death." On being introduced by Mr. E. Y. Clarke, the orator, CoL James C. Waddell, spoke as follow*; ends, to perform s pious and grateful service. Still, how noble are these honors of the grave! Nothing •elfish taints their aim; nothing sordid mars their beauty ; no lust of fortune, of favor, or of fame, pol lutes their purity or bedims their lustre. They prove your unalterable adherence to the'princi ples for which your oountry men struggled and suf fered, and bled aud died. They prove that the pil lars of your faith in ths Justice of man and the mer cy of God, are still strong. More: they are Gratl- 1 ’ ‘ testimonial to tiuqusillng Valor.
