He couuaeled moderation and abstinance from liquors, and said if the authorities established a system of organized terror ism, the workingmen will not be re sponsible for the consequences. The men would commit uo outrage. They were not in favor of the acts of the Commune of Paris being committed in this city. The German military music corps of the Berlin Guard Greuadior regiment, wbioh arrived in the steamer Rhein this morning, was received with all ssible enthusiasm and cordiality by tlic Ger mans of this city and Hoboken. The excitement continues in the l!)th and 21st precincts. The strikers are marching through the streets, calling upon men who are at woik to join their ranks, and in aomo coses forcing com pliauce with their demands. The police, in strong force, havo charge of the workshops, and Superintendent dCelso has made his headquarters at Stein way’a Factory in 52d street. In spcctor Dilkes has command of the re serves. Capt. Irving, and others, of the Detective force, are moving among the Btrikera. The damage by the hurricane jyester- day was considerable. Many persona, in both New York and Brooklyn, were in jured, and in the latter city three persons wero killed. At Wingfield, Long Island, a bell tower fell on a train of cars, de molishing a portion of the train. None of the passengers were injured. In Jer sey Cily the grain storehouse of the Pennsylvania Central Railroad, was blown down, causing a loss of several thousand dollars. It was reported that the amount in volved in the Bait against Jay Gould, brought by the Attorney Goneral, is sixty millions of dollars. Albany, June 15.—One thousand three hundred machinists, carpenters and painters havo struck for eight hours. The truiu bauds, switch-tenders and trackmen, were induced to join the strike. The Committee on Resolutions mode report—the first resolution pronouncing total abstinence a test for membership, and the second declaring the use of to bacco inconsistent with the highest type of Christianity. The resolutions will be discussed this evening. The rules wero suspended, and a dele gate read the resolution, which caused such commotion yesterday, relative to the Bible in public schools, and pledging the efforts of the Association to place it in every Catholic Churoh. Boston, Mass., Juno 15.—The Demo cratic Convention of the Fifth Congress- ion District, to-day, elected delegates to Baltimoro, without instructions. WASHINGTON Intcrmal Revenue Receipt*. Washington, June 15.—Receipts trom internal revenue to-day reached $127,- 540.97. The receipts from the same source during the present fiscal year have been $125,340,770.54—a larger sum already than was estimated, the estimate being only $125,000,000.
