Baltimore, June 19.—The Democrat ic State Convention, to select delegates to the National Convention, was held to day. Montgomery Blair, ex-Governor Phillip ThomaH, ex State Treasurer Robert W. Fowler, and O. Leo Knott were chosen delegates at large. The Con vention then took a recess. MINNESOTA DEMOCRATIC CONVENTION. St. Paul, Minn., June 19.—The regular Democratic Convention of Minnesota, is in session her#. There is every indica tion of the indorsement of the Greeley and Brown ticket. ALABAMA DEMOCRATIC CONVENTION. Montgomery, June 19.—The Demo cratic State Convention is the largest ever held. It will nominate a straight State ticket and Congressmen at large, and leave the electoral ticket open for consultation and co operation with the Liberal Republicans. New Yoke, Juno 1'J.—Employers, in all brunches of manufactures in this city and vicinity, met last evening, ami passed resolutions to reject tha eight hour sys tem, and to accept only teu hours for a day’s work, aud to hold out to tlio bitter ond. An Executive Committee, to per fect the work of organization, wns ap pointed. Tbe effects of the strike in Jersey eity are beginning already to ho felt among the poorer classes. It is’reported that Heath & llaphael, Bischoffschiera & Goldsmidt, and Jav Gould, are entering into an alliance with the intention of re-instating Gould as President of the Erie Railroad. Stokes’ trial lias commenced. Two jarors have been selected. The steam pipe of the tug Niagara, exploded this morning, fatally scalding James Dorsey. Delegates left Jersy City, this morning to arrange for a strike all along the line of the Erie Hoad. The employees in Jersey City, numbering six hundred, are almost unanimous for a strike. The number of the metal workers, on a strike is constantly being augmuented by fresh accessions. Trouble is npprchomlcd to-day from the strikes, and the police are on the alert. Tbe gns workmen, who are on a strike, made a demonstration against those em ploy cd in the Works. They have quioted, and a police force has been sent to the scene, A dispatch from Doston states that the men are organizing there to go on a strike there the luttor part of July. Tetcr Cooper has given ono thousand dollars towards sustaiuiug the shirt cut ters iu the Btriko, The Singer Sewing Machine men are still out, and there docs not apprur to be any possibility of a speedy or satisfac tory adjustment. The sugar refiners are in precisely the same condition as yesterday. The stable and coachmen of Brooklyn will strike Saturday unless paid fourteen instead of twelve dollars a week. Professor Thatcher, of Yale College, has secured donations here sufficient to Oomplete the new chu|>el of the college. At a recent convention of the railway managers of the New York Central, Erie and Pennsylvania Central Railroad lines, On agreement was made to sell, beroafter, po passenger tickets for political meetings or State Fairs at yeduoed rates. Nuasiu Falls, Jane 10.—The South ern editors, now on an excursion here, adopted resolutions of thanks to the members of the Press of Rufialo, aud others, fur courtesies received, aud de claring fealty to the Union. Jane 19.—Tbe steamer Great Republic, whioh arrived yeeterdsy from China and Japan,brought the following additional intelligence: The seaport of Ramilia, in the Japanese Island Legisfon, was visited by an earth quake, and 600 persons perished. On the 4th of May tbe steamer Roys oollided with the French steamer Ava, near Shanghai. Tbe Rova was sunk. Messrs. MoMeekin and McQuade, sec ond and third engineers Poole and Boyle, chie' and third officers, Dr. Thompson and 65 Chinamen were drowned. MASSACHUSETTS. The Jubilee. Bouton, Mass., June 19.—The third day of the Jubilee was devoted to Ger mans, and Coliseum was well filled— Teutons predominating. Franz Aht directed the performance. London, June 18.—A special from Geneva to the London papers says: Res olute efforts are being made to settle the cardiual differences which have arisen between the English and American Gov ernments, iu connection with the Ala bama C aims Arbitration. A decline in tbe prices of the Erie Railroad shares has caused tbe failure of several dealers. There were territlo thunder storms yesterday afternoon in the Northern and midland counties of England. Many persons who were exposed to the violence of the storm, were injured. The steamship Memphis, which arriv ed at Liverpool yesterday, from Now Orleaus with a cargo of cotton, wos struck by lightning during tbe storm last evening, and was considerably damaged. A portion of her cargo was burned. A special from Madrid says the state of Spain is alarming. There has been a partial rising of Republicans in Andalu sia since tbe Conservatives proposed dic tatorship of Serrano, with absolute pow er for spending money and suspending the constitution. Tbe Conservatives are enraged at tbo rejection of their propo sals by the King, and say tbe last attempt at forming a Conservative Ministry, un der Amadeus, has been tried. "A Radi cal Ministry apd then the deluge," ex claims a Serranoist journal. It is said that Serrano has left for Eng land in disgust and that Saogosta has left for France.
