The Democrutio Executive Committee for Fulton county arc hereby requested to meet in the office of Hill & Candler on Thursday next, the 20th instant, AT 4 O’CLOCK P. M., For the purpose of transacting impor tant business relating to the interests of the Party in the approaching Presidential And%r the purpose of considering the propriety of calling another Convention of the Party for the county. In compliance with the written request of numerous Democrats, I now issue this call, trusting that harmony will pre vail T. W. J. Hill, Chairman Democratic Executive Com mittee, Fulton County. The written request alluded to by Col. Hill, oontains the signatures of about 800 Democrats. Over five hundred sig natures were attached to the request laid before CoL HiU, while a number of other lists are out in the hands of parties with signatures of about three hundred more. We shall publish these names, to show that there is no unfairness about it. Col. HiU deserves thanks for promptly issuing the call, when the imposing Ar ray of names was presented to him. It is enough, that the Democrats of the o:mnty are not satisfied with the pro ceedings of Saturday last. We cordially unite with him in the hope that harmony may prevail. We trust the committee will as promptly call another Convention, as Col. Hill has oalled the committee. If another mass Convention of the party » oalled, and if, at it, everything is conducted fairly and harmoniously, no one will complain of the result, let it be what it may. We are in favor of letting the people be fairly heard. This is all we ask, and we trust no one wiU object to it. Psusoiial.—Oen. P. M. B. Young, M. 0., and CoL Dramas H. It was thought, at the commencement of the year, that Major James would inaugurate some public im provements that would mark his administration as an era In the history of Allants, Up to this date nothing is apparent in thla direction, and the year ia half gone. Water-works are much needed. Every candid mind must admit their necessity. I do not mean to carry out any old contracts, nor to put the tax-payers under unbearable burdene, bu* the procurement ol ample supply of water, eufficlont for eauitary purpose*, fire demands, etc., ie an actual necessity. A system ol sewerage is needed. A central secure sewer of proper capacity should be constructed] along Whitehall street, commencing at Hnnter, and runulng North to Alabama; thence East on Alabama to the one already constructed down Entrenchment oreok to Fair street; then from Uuutor or Whitehall to Mitchell, then East along Mitchell to the ready mentioned, with various shoots in othor streets as necessities require; also oue commencing at the Capitol on Marietta street, and running East down Decatur to Calhoun, with entry of one stort ing from oppooite Wesley Chapel along Peachtree street. When constructed, these main severs can be tapped with pipes that wiU convey the water from tho roofs of all adjacent buildings, and carry away the slops from yards, kitchens, Ac. Those sewers, after overtaking running branch water, can be covered so os not to damage citlsens on the margiu of these streams, and by straighten ing cut and trimming all the bonks of the bronohes, which are the natural sewers of the city. Every branch from the ceutre of the city, needs, to-day, prompt attention lu ths manuer herein poluted Unices the banka are trin.med, bode .graded, aud crooks straightened, chills will follow lu the hot mouths from the stagnant water along these branch es. It Is a matter of surprise to me, that the au thorities have not long ago given # tbls very subject careful attention. Tho fall or descent le so greet that, with but little assistance, these branch** will carry off an immense amount of filth now deposit- ad all along their courses, to tho disgust and danger of the inhabitants. Let these be attended to now-thls year. It la needed greatly. Then we will .be ready for some cheap supply of water upon some sound, economical plan, from some one of the many clear, pure streams that flow near, but do not bead in the city.
