A really select party assembled yesterday morn
ing at His Honor's ball, and the scene was graced
ty the presence of the fair sex. who seem of Ism to
have avoided this popular resort. Ills Honor, who
was not expecting such a pleasure, had not adorned
his person with that fastidiousness which he always
exhibits when entering the presence of the fair;
and aa he is a naturally bathful man, his trepida
tion befors the lsdlse may well be imagined. Now,
had onr friend Grady stood'In Hie Honor’s shoes,
he would have been perfectly at home, and carried his
honors like a blushing rose. But Grady being the
Herald't fighting editor, perhaps wo bad better let
him alone—aa we would not like to be "called out.’

OEOROR WEAVES
was a fine old gentleman, with a slightly German
ascent, and bears a striking resemblance to Count
Yon Moltke, to whom George is related by marriage.
Tbs late election gave Col. Weaver’s nerves such a
shock that he resorted to various devices for resto
ration, and, unable to purchase a stimulant, he
agreed to bny some candy and bava the whisky
thrown In. He coaid n )t ny whether he paid for
the candy or the whisky, nor did he cars. He im
agined himself In "Faderland" once more, and called
lor the candy again. About .this tin e he was con
veyed to the calaboose, wbero he thought his sor
row " o’er and o’er again," and the more he
thought of It the more Indignant he became. That
freeman should be thus Interfered with in his
privileges, was something beyond comprehension;
and when a sick man would not be allowed to bny
oandy and drink whisky It was high time to be
alarmed for the liberties of the country. George
weaved his story out to bis Honor In each immense
warps that he was let off with the costs.
M ns. FLYNN,
who was represented by Mr. B. H. Thrasher, Is the
ladywho so kindly supplied Mr.Weaver's want*. She
thought that such an act of generosity ts giving
away the whisky to a sick man, to make his candy
go down easily, was unheard of. Mr. Thrasher
read HLs Honor from Georgia Reports, 35, the decls.
Ion of the Supreme Court, wherein It decided that a
corporation had no right to encroach upon ths Ju
risdiction of the State Courts, and the offense
charged being against the 8tate. it should not bean-
tertalned by the Booorder. His Honor, however,
decided that ha would take Jurisdiction. Colonal
Thrasher will carry the case up.

Take Up.—Not by tbe policeman, but
by the “Automatic Take Up” of the
“Domesti •“ sewing machine. It does
facilitate the work wonderfully. No
breaking the thread, or changing of ten
sion iu runnin ; over different thicknesses
of goods.
Many women lose time and worse
thun tnat—health and patience, by using
poor aud hard running sewing machines.
But it is a pleasure to use the “light
running” “Domestic,” with its self-ad
justing teusions, great Bpace under the
arm, extension table, larger bobbin, sim
plicity. durability, and, withal, quiet
movement The ‘’Domestic” will be
shown with pleasure to any oue who call
at No. 4, DeGive's Opera House, Atlan
ta, Gd.

“How Easy it Buns.”—This is the
firat exclamation of every lady who aits
down to tho “Domestic.” Sho soon
finds a dozen other points of superiority,
and tho final emphatio statement is, “the
'Domestic' suits me every way.” You
are invited to call and examine the “Do

A snarling dog, a troublesome cat, a
crying child and a clattering sewing
machine are enough to drive a body
wild. But the “Domestio” sewing ma
chine runs so silently tlut it quiets every
thing else in the household and produces
happinubs and tranquility.
