Jesus Comes Into This World John 6:35-40 Christmas Day - this is the day that we celebrate the arrival of Jesus Christ on the Earth. But why did He come? Why did the Creator of this world decide to clothe Himself in a human body and enter into a barn? The Bible gives us the answer: Jesus came to save us. In this scripture Jesus defines this for us. Inverse 39 Jesus defines this for us when He says: “This is the will of Him who sent Me, that I shall lose none of all that He has given me, but raise them up on the last day.” So, for everyone who has ever wondered how God sees us; for everyone who has ever doubted God’s love when a prayer seems to have gone unanswered; for everyone who has doubted God’s love when a life has become broken; for everyone who has cried out to God, Are you there? or Do you really care? Jesus gives the answer. He has come to do God’s will, and His will is very, very good. The goodwill of God is a Recently, the administration at Southern Regional Technical College (SRTC) recognized exceptional students achieving the honor of Merit List for the fall 2024 term, which ended December 2. Each semester, SRTC recognizes students who have accomplished high academic achievement through the Merit List. In order to qualify for the Merit List, students must meet two criteria: earn a grade of “A” or “B” in all coursework attempted and be enrolled in 6 or more semester credit hours at the college. When we do fall short in our belief, it causes us to doubt God’s love for us. This doubt about God’s love is one of the enemy’s most frequent points of attack on us. When we allow these doubts to enter, it affects our life circumstances, our moods, our relationships, our deeds and the people around us. We must hold on to and hold out for the truth! The Bible promises that if we only believe, God’s will for us is a cause for celebration, not despair. Jesus came into this world as an act of divine love, not vengeance. He came to save us, and He came at God’s will. So, He is here and in our hearts by God’s will, and it is God’s will and great pleasure to love us and us to love Him. All God’s people, say AMEN. Merry Christmas! All God’s say AMEN! Only One Other Hospi tal in the Country Holds The Certification Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital (PPMH) is just the second hospital in the coun try to earn Advanced Certifi cation in Infection Prevention (AC-IP) from DNV, a global independent expert in risk management and one of the two primary accrediting agen cies for healthcare organiza tions in the United States. “This is an incredible milestone that highlights Phoebe’s commitment to pa tient safety and proves that infection prevention is a top priority in our hospital,” said PPMH CEO Deb Angerami. “The fact that only one other hospital in the nation has suc cessfully completed the rigor ous steps required to earn this certification speaks volumes about the quality of care our teams provide and how se riously we take the safety of every patient we have the priv ilege of serving.” The President of DNV’s healthcare division, came to Phoebe Tuesday to personally congratulate the hospital’s In fection Prevention team and present the certification to hospital leaders. “The DNV ACIP program empowers all staff to make necessary changes through a comprehensive risk assess ment framework that provides hospitals with tools, resources, and institutional support to ad dress often overlooked areas and implement best practices. ACIP motivates entire hospital systems to identify and mit igate vulnerabilities, rework and redesign existing systems, more efficiently manage re sources, and ensure smarter and safer healthcare,” said Kelly Proctor, President, DNV Healthcare USA Inc. AC-IP recognizes excel lence in an organization’s in fection prevention and control processes with an emphasis on sepsis management. One recent example of quality im provements at PPMH is en hancements in monitoring pa tients for sepsis, a life-threat ening condition that occurs when the body’s immune sys tem has an extreme response to an infection. If not identi fied quickly and treated ag gressively, sepsis can progress rapidly, often leading to multi ple organ failure and death. “Phoebe utilizes AI soft ware that constantly monitors our patients’ medical records for even slight changes that may be a sign of sepsis. If the system picks up on something, it sends an immediate alert for the care team to address. It may be a false alarm, but if it is concerning, the team esca lates and begins sepsis treat ment right away,” said Phoebe Putney Health System Sepsis Coordinator Kelly Hill, RN. Phoebe’s Sep-1 compli ance rate, a Centers for Medi care and Medicaid Services standard which measures whether every intervention recommended to diagnose and treat patients with sepsis is completed over three-hour and six-hour periods, is signifi cantly higher than both state and national averages. Phoebe is also expanding its commu nity sepsis education efforts. “Often people suffer ing from sepsis wait too long to seek care, and when they get to our ER, the illness has progressed to a point that it can’t be successfully treated. We’re focusing on communi ty education to teach people the symptoms of sepsis and the importance of early inter vention,” said PPMH Director of Accreditation & Infection Prevention Cynthia Chaney, MSN. “We’re also working with sepsis patients who are discharged from the hospital, giving them knowledge to pro tect themselves in the future and even following up with post-discharge calls to check on their recovery.” To earn AC-IP from DNV, a hospital must also adopt a structured and robust ap proach to manage the impact of emerging pathogens, mea sure program performance and adapt quickly to global changes. “As an early hotspot during the COVID-19 pan demic, we learned a lot of les sons. As part of this certifica tion, we’ve had to implement new processes and additional education requirements to prove that we are well-pre pared to deal new threats and potential future pandemics,” Chaney said. DNV surveyors reviewed all aspects of Phoebe’s infec tion prevention and control processes and procedures and completed a thorough in-per- son survey. Any hospital who earns AC-IP must be recerti fied annually. According to DNV, certified organizations are equipped to achieve long-term performance goals and have established an accountability system by: Identifying improvement opportunities and areas of risk which, when resolved, enhance performance toward improved outcomes Providing patients and their families validation that their healthcare team has high-level experience, knowl edge and skills in the complex process of treating and pre venting infections Validating continuous quality improvement and com pliance with AC-IP require ments and accepted standards of infection prevention and control best practices Differentiating the orga nization’s infection prevention program from those of other hospitals About DNV DNV is a global indepen dent certification, assurance and risk management provid er, operating in more than 100 countries. Through its broad experience and deep exper tise, DNV advances safety and sustainable performance, sets industry benchmarks, drives innovative solutions.
