Republicans elect delegates
to state, district conventions
Members of the Peach County
Republican Party met Saturday,
March 15, at the courthouse for
precinct and county conventions
leading up to the district and state
meets planned for April 19 and
May 16-17, respectively.
Chosen as delegates to the district
convention to be held at Houston
County High School were the
following: Billy Davidson,
Maxwell Duke, Miriam Duke,
Paula Kotzum, Steve Kotzum and
Cornelia Nichols.
Paula Kotzum also will serve on
the Credentials Committee.
Alternates chosen were Cynthia
Adams, William Alford, Beth
Collins, Tara Davidson, William
Nichols and Diane Zimmerman.
Delegates elected to the state
convention to be held at the
Centreplex in Macon were Alford,
Joe Collins, Billy Davidson,
Maxwell Duke, Miriam Duke and
Cornelia Nichols. Alternates elected
were Adams, Tara Davidson, Paula
Kotzum, Steve Kotzum, Laurens
Peach County High has blood drive
For adults and children with life
threatening diseases such as cancer
and leukemia every day is precious,
and every day these patients need
your gift of blood to survive.
Many people cannot imagine
being too weak to get out of bed in
the mbrning, but for patients with
these diseases, blood transfusions
are the only way for them to have
any strength at all.

Friday, April 11, from 10 am. to 3
pm. in the Peach County High
School agriculture building at 900

announced today that 16 traffic
accidents in Peach County were
investigated in March. These
accidents resulted in 14 injuries and
0 deaths.

chairman for the next two years.
Maxwell Duke was chosen as vice
chairman, Bruce Haddock as
treasurer and Cornelia Nichols as
secretary.
Party members congratulated
those Republicans who won county
office in the last General Election:
Joe Collins, county commissioner,
Billy Davidson, school board
member, and Lee, chief magistrate.
Alford, who heads the county
Coverdell Good Government
Committee, announced that fund
raising would begin for the next
election. Maxwell Duke agreed to
serve as finance chairman of this
committee.
Three of the six county
precincts—Byron, Fort Valley 1
and Foil Valley 2—reported at the
county convention. Claude, Fort
Valley 3 and Powersville were not
represented.

replacement of county-owned
facilities damaged by record
flooding in July 1994.

Georgia declared eligible for
federal disaster assistance by
President Clinton as a result of the
July flood. The Preszidential
Disaster Declaration initiated a
massive recovery effort for
individuals, families, businesses,
private non-profit organizations,
and local governments.
The effort is being managed by
GEMA and the Federal Emergency
Management Agency.
As projects are completed and
inspected, additional payments will
be processed. Disaster relief
funding for local governments is
being shared by the federal and
state governments.
