Vol. 9, No. 16. LOCAL AND PERSONAL Mr. R. L. Bagley spent Tues day in the Gate City on business Rev. F. T. Wills filled his ap pointment at Noixross Satur day and Sunday. Mr. Clay Bagby has purchas ed a Buick six form the Cum xning Garage. Messrs J. V. Merritt and R. P. Otwell was in Gainesville on business last Friday. Several from Cumming went to Stone Mountain Sunday, and report a pleasant time. Dr. W. E. Lipscomb has pur chased anew Ford five pasen ger car. Mr. T. F. Davis and family family spent Sunday with his father on route 5. Mr. Toy Otwell has purchas ed a Country Club Overland car from C. B. & R. P. Otwell, the Overland dealers here. Mrs. W. R. Otwell has re turned from an extended visit to her daughter, Mrs. Hoyt Brannon, in Dawsonville. Henry Hurt has purchased him a Ford car, and is now ready to begin collecting taxes this fall. Mr. and Mrs. B. M. Durham of Dahionega spent Sunday with Mr. J. B. Durham and fam ily. Miss Ollie Fowler of Gaines ville spent Sunday wtih her pa rents, Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Fow ler, in town. Mr. J. E. Brooks spent a day or two this week with his son. Mr. C. H. /Brooks, at Brook wood. Mr. Mather Smith and family of Coal Mountain spent Sunday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Smith. We regret to learn of the ser ious illness of Mrs. P. D. Brown of route 4, and hope she will soon be restored to health. Mr. Wiley Owens spent Sat urday night and Sunday with relatives and friends in Daw son county. Mrs. J. A. Hope and Mrs. R L. Bagley have returned from a visit to relatives and friends in Athens, W inder and Atlanta Bring your hats, of all kinds to Lomde Denson and have them cleaned and blocked, and made to look like new. A great many of the farmers of the county have planted corn and some have planted cotton seed. We hope that jack-ti os. will not get this when it comes up. Mrs. John Black of Dawson county spent last Friday with Dr. J. A. Otwell and family. Mr. F. G. Roberts of Cordele spent the week-end with his family in town. Ur. W. W. Pirkle and family visited relatives at Ileardville Sunday. Mr. Frank Williams of Big Creek district was up Sunday, riding in his new' Ford car. Mr. Taylor Pirkle and family .'pent'Sunday with’his mother on route 1. Mr. W. N. Poole and family | spent Sunday with relatives and friends around Pinkneyville. Miss Mardelle Dougherty spent tiie week-end with her aunt Miss J. Cynthia Reid on route 6. Mr. Ernest Tidwell, who has been at work down at La- Grange, Ga., has returned home, Mr. .J. B. Patterson and two sons, and Mr. R. E. Harrison wore in Pendergrass and Jeff or son last Saturday on business. Rev. R. H. Thompson filled his appointment at the Baptist hurdi in town Sunday at elev r ) ar.d at night. Rev. Harris of Gainesville was her a day or two last week and id k, and preacmid at the court house Sunday afternoon. Mrs. W. F. Smith of Belton, S. €., is spending a few days with her sister, Mrs. W. J. Groover and other relatives here and in the county. Call on Clay Bagby, Flowery Branch, Ga., route 2 for hogs and cattle; also for lumber of all kinds. He will cut it to measure for you. Will Bell has resigned his po sition with the American Land Cos. of Greensboro N. Old Maude is catching it from sun up to dark, but they will soon catch up with their work and the stock will not have such a hard time. It will be gratifying news to the churches in the Cumming circuit to know that New Mope has been put back fn this work. The pastor will go up Sunday and make plans for the mcet- ings days. ___ Mrs. John Lee died at her home one and one half miles south of Cumming last Friday night, and her remains were interred at Haw Creek Satur day. We extend sympathy to her bereaved husband, and other relatives. The little fourteen-month old infant of Mr. and Mrs. Garrett, died at their home on route 3 Tuesday morning, and its littie body was laid to rest at Friendship Tuesday after noon.
