last at the Cadets hall on Bryan street
between Abercorn and Drayton, and h-;s
been the place of attraction during the
week. The Lail is tastefully de'orated
a d the tables are laden with useful ami
ornamental articles which are be ng
ripidly sold at moderate prices. The
ladies in charge are untiring iu their
efforts to please every body and are
meeting with abundant success. The
Guards band played at the opening and
there is an attractive entertainment
e ery evening. The fair will contii ue
until the 19th. There is no better way
of spending an evening agreably than
by paying it a visit. Let every body
go aud help the good cause.

Death of Mr u k Aldrich.
Mr. Frank Aldrich a long and
faithlul employee of th*. Southern
Express Company, died at the resi
dence of his father, Mr. George
A'drich on Bolioji street at 8 o’clock
p. m. on April Bth. His remains
were carried to Augusta accompani
ed by his father. Up to the time of
his death he had been in the employ
of the Southern Express Company
eight years and was beloved by all
who knew him. He leaves a host
