Richard Stephens while engaged in
tinning the roof of the First Bryan
Baptist church on Waldburg Lane and
West Broad streets, fell from the roof
on Wednesday last, injuring himself
quite seriously, He was taken by
friends and carried to his home on Mill
street near Ann,

The South Carolina Mutual Associa
tion will give the first excursion of the
season to Beaufort South Carolina, on
Monday May 17th. The fine steamer

occasion. A good time may be expect
ed. Boat will leave at 8a m. Fare for
round trip, adults 75 cents, children 50
cents.

Mr - M, W Suiter has removed his
grocery store to his new and commodi
ous establishment on the corner of Price
aud Gordon streets, where he is glad to
meet his old friends and patrons. When
some people move it injures their busi
ness more or less, but it does not affect
Mr. Suiter in the least, because as he
puts it, “what's the use of staying in the
old place, when they come to the new
place all the same.”

Military Parade.
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday
were gala days with the Young Chat
hams of this city, there guest on the oc
casion was the Young Attucks of Chail
eston 8. C. The Attucks arrived on
Sunday evening and was taken charge
of by the Young Chathams and escorted
to their armory when they were assign
ed tojheir respective lodgingjplaces. On
Monday they enjoyed a grand pie-nic
at Montgomery and at night a grand
festival at Chatham Hall. Tuesday aft
ernoon theyjpar.aued the principal streets
halting in front of the Tribune office
for about twenty minutes. Capt. M, J.
Doyle, one of our prominent merchants,
tendered refreshments to the boys which
were gratefully accepted. At night
another grand reception was held at
Chatham Hall and an exhibition drill
by the Young Attucks. The drilling
on this occasion was excellent and elic
ited praise from every one. L. B.
Toomer of the Tribune staff was in
vited to address them, whieh he did in
a brief and complimentary manner. The
c nduct and marching of the Young
Attucks during their stay in ‘-ur
city, was highly commend* d by all
classes of our citizens. They left f<»r

ighted with their trip the Ft r -t
City, and the hospitable treatment they
received from Capt. Allen aud his brave
little company, The officers of the
