25, 1947, and requested service.
When they attempted to give
their orders, George Brown, the
manager, told them the inn
only served patrons by reser¬
vation.
It developed at the trial that
the cafe’s license showed it was
classified as a public restau¬
rant, anti that there were no
reservation cards upon the ta¬
ble at which the five were seat¬
ed. Testimony was also giv-
^n that the waitress was about
to take their order when the
manager came up

NEW YORK, Sept. 9. — The
i Veterans Administration has
been charged by the National
Association for the Advance¬
ment of Colored People with

state of New York which have
a policy of discriminating
against Negroes. The NAACP
requested, in a letter to the
medical director of the Veter¬
ans Administration, that the

ination was uncovered by the
