Corn is magnificent; and if we have propitious season from now to harve-t time, there is not barn-room enough in Southwest Georgia to hold the corn and fodder that will be produoed. This fact is encouraging to every one since corn in this market sprang last week from ninety cunts to one dollar and ten per bushel at one leap. This rise was oaused as a mat ter of course, by the war demand from the East; and is the begining of what wo warned our planters some weeks ago to guard themselves against. Wheat, rye and oals promise an abundant yield, and those who have planted heavily of small grain have no room to complain. -Application will be made to His Ex- oellenoy, Gov. Father Dunoan is a native Alabamian, born and raised in Montgomery. He was among the first priests orda ned by Bishop Quinland. He joined tho Society of Jesus some eight years ago. —The Evergreen Star says that little Mollie Hagerman, a lovely ohild of ten summers, and daughter of Mrs. Emma Byrd, was waylaid and brutally murdered near Bethlehem ohurob, Monroe oounty, on the 7 th inst. The perpetrator of the damnable deed was a negro boy aged about sixteen years. Little Mollie was on her way to school, and the beastly fiend after having been arrested, said that he had ambushed her twice before. He was sentenced to jail, and on the road was seized from the bailiff by a oompany of forty or fifty men and has not been heard from since. HITT’S PIUS A distinguished physidan of New Vork says: It is astonishing how universally Dr Tutt’s Pills are used. In my daily rounds, I hear of them not only among the poor, but their virtues are hernlded from the mansions of the wealthy and refined.
