Proof Oats and Barley. aepitieod2w J. U, Hamilton. a youno lady or 21 years kills berself WITH A PISTOL IN WYNNTON WHILE SUF FERING FROM TEMPORARY INSANITY. Miss Mattie Davie committed suioide yesterday, while laboring under a At of insanity. Miss D. was the sister-in-law of G. E. Thomas, Jr., Esq., at whose resi dence in Wynnton, the sad oecnrence happened. It appears that Miss D. had lately re- tnrned from a visit to some friends in Alabama. Bhe was in very poor health, and her mind was seriously affected. She frequently spoke of being tired of living, and wished for death. Her friends fearing that she might do herself some barm, oarefnlly removed whatever they thought she might use for that purpose. Every gun and piatol was discharged; but it ap pears she found some cartridges toa Colt’s navy pistol and loaded one barrel whioh she need so diHastroasly to herself. A few miDntes before the sad ooonrrenoe she was more oheerfnl than was her ons tom, and was at the piano playing and singing with Mrs. Turman, who was vis iting the honse. Bhe asked Mrs. T. to excuse her for a minute, and gaily went from the parlor into her bedroom, which was across the hall. Almost immediately after Mrs. Turman heard the explosion of a pistol, and running to the door of Miss Davie's room, fonnd it looked. In a few minutes the door was bnrsled open and the unfortunate lady was fonnd lying npon her bed with the pistol npon her breast, still olasped in her hand. Bhe bad plaoed the mnzzle over her heart and Ared, the ball passing en tirely through her body and sinking deep in the mattress, upon whioh she was lying. Only one barrel of the pistol had been loaded, and that one did the deed. Miss D. for several years lived in Texas, where she bad learned to use a pistol, and her knowledge of the weapon enabled her to oiroumvent her frieDds who were so careful to prevent her from doing ber self harm. The pistol had, no donkt, been prepared soma time before the deed was oommitted, as she had not the time to arrange it after Bbe left the parlor, as only a few seconds intervened before the ex plosion was heard. Miss Davie was about 21 years of age, and raised near Columbus, and was well known and loved by many friends, who sadden at her unfortunate fate. Mr. and Mrs. G. E. Thomas have the sympathy of the ooinmnnity in their terrible bereave ment. A BOY KILLED IN BROWNSVILLE RAILROAD EMUANKMKNT OAVES ON HIM— TWO OTHERS DARKLY ESCAPE SUFFOCATION.
