Cooper of St. Simon's, arc appointed by the Governor to be Commissioners to run arid mark the dividing lino between this Sta'e and Florida, in pursuance of a resolution of the Legislature of this •Stele, approved Dec. 16, 1630. Thomas, as wc have before slated, is Surveyor. clfr — Wc take pleasure in referring the attention of the ^inblic to the advertisement of Messrs. Carrullik Brown, found tnthisday's paper. One at least nfllic objections, the want of comfortable accommodations, heretofore made against visiting the romantic and majestic scen ery with which the noithcrn section of our State abounds, is at length removed by the establishment of the Clayton Hotel. We fed assured Hint none hut (lie most fastidious, or the confirmed grimlliIonian, would have cause to ho dissatisfied with the comforts which the place now adonis. The mountains—the fills—and the scenery generally of Habersham and l!n. bun, arc becoming dnily more ami more the ot.jects <-f attraction, while increased efforts arc making to give ealisfjctiun to the numerous and annually increasing visiters. Wc presume that this section of country will shortly become the summer resort of many nl those who now leave the low counties and visit the Northern Slates at that season. \ —— .Vries from IFarAinghm.—The last mail brought us the unexpected intelligence that Mr. Van Iiurcn, Secre tary ofStnle; Mr. Ingham, Secretary of the Treasury; "Major F.aton, Secretary of War; and Mr. Branch, So- erclnry of Ihe Navy, had each tendered his resignation to the President, all of which had been accepted. It was also reported that onr fellow citizen, Judge Ber rien, had resigned his office of Attorney General ; and that Major Barry, the Post Matter General, hod like wise t-ndered his resignation, but was prevailed upon by the. President to continuo in office. What arc the ..auscs which led to this general withdrawal from the cabinet, it is impassible lo divine. It docs not appear that any collision had taken place among the members of the cabinet, or with the President; nor do wc believe that the measures pursued by either of the Secreta ries have rendered them unpopular with Ihe people; still we arc inclined to think that there nrc other caus es for this movement than have been developed. In this paper will be found the letter of Mi. Van Burcn.in Which he gives some reasons for his own withdrawal, and the President's answer. Major Eaton’s Idler is also given in Ihe Washington papers, hut wc do not perceive that he lias advanced any other reason for w ishing to retire, than a dislike of office. From the ethers no communication has been published. Rumor, Cl usual, is busy with speculationsas to the successors oftlie present incumbents, and it is confidently acscr- ted that Mr. Livingston of Louisiana, w ill be Secretary of State; Mr. M'Uno of Delaware, Secretary «.f the Treasury; Mr. While of Tennessee, Secretary of War, end Mr. Woodbury of New Hampshire, Secretary of the Navy. Thcso reports may success on pursuing a course in direct opposition lo tile one they 'ormcrly advocated. They now think it indispensable, even at the sacrifice oftlie riglilsofsome of their citizens, to provide for the survey of the Indian lands, although those lands nro not yet acquired. If this is consistency, wc wash our hands of it. If ibis is honesty, dishonesty is a virtue. In conclusion wc n:k, not! we ask seriously, what the advocates of the Land Bill have done by its pas- sage to advance the interests of tho .people. Sh uld Georgia in justice to herself be compelled to adopt the course contemplated by the last legislature, this hill must in pait tie repealed. The slalcmetil is confirmed by n letter of re cent date from flint gentleman to bis friend in ibis place, which .details «• some length tho particulars ns they occurred.
