This voluminous document is before the
American people, and we regret our inabil
ity to prerent the same entire before our
readers. The Messago is signed by the
mute of the Executive Mansion—yet, it is
evidently “ patch-work,” and shows a com
bination of intellects in its mechanism.
The first column is devoted principally,
in a “spread-eagle” Fourth of July style,
in recording the wondrous advances in
Science, Agriculture, Commerce, Mining,
Mechanics, Medicine,' etc., etc., we have
made, as a nation, in the past hundred years.
Ho speaks in the most glowing terms of
our resplendent virtues as a people, yet is
ominously silent upon our untold vices,
party and national profligacy.
On the subject of Education, lie suggests
the following amendment to the Constitu

somewhat like the Civil Rights hill, so fa

THE GEORGIA STATE ORANGE.
This body was in convention in Atlanta
last week, and, judging by published pro
ceedings, still retains its vitality. The cul-,

seems to have induced a determination to
ward self-sustaining farms for the year 1976.
If the passage of resoliitious is an indica
tion of progress, then the success of the
meeting is placed beyond doubt.
The labors of Dr. Thomas P. Janes, as
State Commissioner i f Agriculture, are en

this department, so important to the ad

Too mneh street cannot be laid upon this question,

be consummated even at an earlier day.
