The.facts are as follows: In 1$55, Mr. Baylvs, then in his thirty-cigth year, married a Miss MeAflio, of St. John, nine years his junior, and installed her as landlady of his hostelry. For fifteen years they lived happily enough, she hear ing him three children. In 1870, his nephew, Thomas Bayles, a young fellow of twenty, came out to him lrom England, and was appointed chief hotel clerk. The old gentle man noticed the rapid growth of af- fcetionnfci relations between nephew and aunt, and while he was exerting himself 10 ascertain whether it was criminal nr merely platonic relations, .he couple sloped, carrying off 81,000 cash, some silver plates and a quan tity of household goods. Raylcs heard nothing of the fugitives until 1874, wit At the Chief of Police at St. John saw them together in Mon* treal. They escaped arrest, however, and in 1875 settled here as man and wife, tho nephew starting a factory at 16 Strachan street, and his aunt making hint an excellent spouse. On tho 18th, the uncle, while on Iris way to Milkwaukco, stopped here to look at the city and accidentally came across the pair sifter a weary hunt of seven years. He obtained a warrant for the arrest of his nephew on the charge of stealing money and silver ware, and the latter was to-day held over for trial by the County Judge. The uncle is now sixty, the nephew twenty-seven, and tho wife»aunt fifty- one. The old gentleman says that he will have no more to do with his wife; and she says that she will be loyal to her nephew and none other. Try Again. Everybody makes mistakes. Things will not always come ont just as we try to make them, because some little wrong thing is done, or something that needs to be done is overlooked. Well, what then ? Shall we get discouraged, and let things go as they will? Sonic people do; but such people have a hard life of it. They think themselves very unlucky, and complain of their hard fate. The little fellow who is at work on his example in multiplication finds he has made a mistake. What does he do ? Drop his slate, and go off fretting, and wishing there were no such things ns old bothersome fig ures ? No; he is puzzled ; but lie knows there is a. mistake somewhere, and lie means to find it. “Try again,” is his motto. He will begin and go sowly and carefully through all the work. If he does not find the mistake then, lie will do the same again, running through the lines of the multiplication tabic in his mind, or making them ’*y additions on his slate. He will hit upon the wrong and get the right, you may be sure. children in the neighborhood of Rath, and she asked that they might be sought for. The inquiries set on foot revealed a highly romantic little history. The two children were found —one in the Rath Union, and the other a do mestic servant, filling a situation to which she had lieen sent by the au thorities of the Dutton Union. They had each been left with farmers in the immediate nighborhood of Bath by a person named Morton, who twelve years ago presented himself first at one house and then at the other. In each "instance he claimed relationship, and, after a pretty lengthy visit, ob tained permission to leave a child, when he and a woman by whom he was accompanied, and who passed as his wife, represented as their only one. In introducing themselves they stated that they had come from India, and produced references to Anglo-India families of high position in Rath. They represented when they left the children that they were going to Scot land tef visit relatives, and would be back in a few weeks, and in one in- stance they promised to pay five shil lings per week for the maintenance of the child. They were J never after ward heard of, mid the two persons with whom the children had l»een left, mutually learning some months after ward of the manner in which they had been duped, sent the children to the work house belonging to the respec tive district in which they resided, and there they remained for twelve years. On tearing of their discovery the lady who had at first' written sent $70 to Canon Brooke, with a request that the children should be sent to India. The application was made known to the guardians, who, after investigating,' consented. Till the inquiries were set on foot each of the children was in ig norance of the existence of the other, and they will not only now meet their grandmother for the first time, hut a brother younger than themselves. u’lfiiua.o I facilities, have, in aihjiinn In litcir large slock iiotr on hand, contracted for increased tjuun- Ultes, sumcienMo meet the largnit dcmand-iur Cotton Ties.-lo sorer tl>« entire cron the coniine season, utul iio«-;:tbroiightheir Agents tenets Hr, offer the popular and irrepressible ARROW Ti K at S? 5y l , er bundle, less per cent, discount for cash, in bundles complete, being less than the market value — o merit tbeoodtinded patronago of the .. their Agents are instructed to contract Merchants al til., atxive named price and teams for future delivery up to the in «t August iu quantities as in.: ' be required from time to. time, settlements being made on deliver}-. , . ■* i? * - JancT-tri-w&wtm. , * , r“; ;**•■*• tut lmh| su uuuuiva tviuju or|imitt hoofiir^rf ; and it being the ourimse of th« Company toj plant in# Yommiluuy and to tleft.’all competition that inay arise, th with .iralen*, Factors arid Couutrv Merchant* at the nlxive nauie'l WM.
